This isn’t even the first time Doechii has been talked about. Some of her songs were bumping on social media for a while and people just didn’t know it was her. For example: What It Is, Booty Drop, Spookie Coochie, Alter Ego. She’s also done songs with SZA and Rico Nasty before she went mainstream. People just think that if they didn’t know about the artist before hand, then they’re a industry plant.

It was used correctly with artists like Icy Narco and Kid Buu but now every artist that blows up is labeled an “industry plant.” It’s almost like people don’t want to hear new music. I personally don’t think it’s the most ethical tactic, however as a creator myself, I want my work to do as best as it can and the truth is that most people wouldn’t be interested in this video without a bold, rage type thumbnail. And trust me, I was ready to go in with a similar comment as you but I’ve literally seen every doechii interview I could find over the years and followed her come up for a while…I also have seen A LOT of Mattyballz content and with those two combined, I’ve concluded he’s done ENOUGH research than MOST people do on Artist and if you really watch him, it’s clear to see that he’s genuinely into the topics he speaks on, not just covering topics because it’s popular to hate the music industry now. Ngl, the reason I got into Doechii was because a clip of her live performance of "Denial Is A River" went viral. The flow on that track reminded me of 1995-era boom bap that I listened to growing up. Sometimes, an artist can be on the grind for years, and there's that one song that gravitates towards everyone. Also, she explicitly states on "Denial Is A River" her frustrations being signed to Capitol Records. An industry plant isn't going to vent about label drama like that.
