A fair assessment from the 67HailHail team. As a celtic fan I've been fortunate enough to see great celtic managers and their teams. There was something different when Ange swept into town. It was a successful route and branch reform of the whole playing ethos of the club. I didn't expect he'd take the Spurs job, but he did and I was emotional. I'll never get emotional over another celtic manager/coach. It'll always be celtic football club, the players and us. HH

Almost won the league with Liverpool who hadn’t spent much. Got Leicester 5th twice in 2 years and won the FA cup for them. His team spent 48million this transfer season , southhampton and Leeds spent over £140 million. They all got relegated, he wasn’t backed. Same as at Celtic, he left because the board wouldn’t pay £5 million for John McGinn who’s worth about 30 million now .

Rodgers did not throw away the league: Gerrard slipped and gifted Chelsea a goal. I can't believe you would let off a former Rangers manager with a costly mistake and blame it on a former Celtic manager. Taking a Leicester team to two fifth places should be applauded. Villa moaned about Martin O'Neill missing out on the Champions league and then they ended up relegated after appointing Alex McLeish. It was not his bad recruitment: it was the board. They did not back him which meant he had to go for cheap options and not the players he wanted. In some cases Lawell interfered and the club signed players Rodgers did not even want. Clueless in Europe? That must be how we managed to draw with Manchester City twice, came within minutes of drawing with Bayern Munich before they scored with a counter attack goal and beat Anderlecht 3-0. You are wrong on all counts. And by the way he beat a very good Chelsea team to win the FA Cup, a team who won the Champions League shortly afterwards.

Liverpool did not loose the league title because of Gerrard's slip it was lost when leading 3-0 at Crystal Palace the game ended 3-3 once Dwight Gayle came on as a Palace substitute and changed the game with Liverpool players leaving the pitch in shock and despair not knowing how they could not see out the game from such a commanding position.

I can't stand Rodgers ( have never liked him) & was having panic attacks at the thought of him returning but i will back whoever gets the job. Knutsen my 1st choice and I'm not budging lol. Glad John brought up the fact again that there will be no drop down to Europa after next season. This is why i don't like the new format! Europa win is a realistic possibility for us . Not a fan a Rodgers getting it for several reasons: His teams always seem to start really with a bang and then whimper out the longer he's there. Suggests he is a one trick pony. Many ex players can't stand him. His golden boys usually love him but his ego seems to disrupt the squad. Especially over time. His signings are atrocious, with a few clear exceptions. The Dembele situation where he apparently tried to get him to go to China with him then started badmouthing him when he asked for a move that was good for him. May not be true, but I believe it. He really burned us last time. He could have shown a little loyalty and saw out the season, but took the first half decent prem job that came his way.

Rodgers signings and style of football were incredibly poor compared to previous managers and even Ange. If the only market you know is England or France you will struggle to be able to get the best bang for your buck so if the board did hold money back it was for good reason.

Honestly I dont care that he left. I was fuming at the board appointing Lennon though. But Rodgers wasted plenty of money on transfers. After the phenomenal first season (although there was no competition) performances got worse and worse and his third season was worse than anything Strachan cooked up (but he got the champions league last 16, twice). He was a failure in Europe as well for the most part and he did a runnee the minute that it looked like Rangers might challenge us. For me he has plenty to prove. The league is a different one than the one that he managed in. I wouldnt be giving him big money until he earns it.

anje never once made it about him,he always put the next game top priority...even at the end.... he came ..did his job .. he left.(end of season). dug us out a real shitshow in the process and left us in a real strong position . i do think though in the passing of time he will remember his days at celtic as the best of his career

Could not agree more. Ange lied to us but too many fans are still in love with him to accept it. I think he might have been talking to Spurs for about two months as our play in that whole period was not up to scratch. Apart from the first half against Kilmarnock we didn't score the goals we should have. We kept winning by a goal when we should have murdered the opposition.

Curiously, I wasn't against his appointment but as time went on and his method and simple, but not simplistic, tactics took hold, I detected the invisible hand of neo-liberal patriarchy and oh, how we crave short-term success. Brendan has no European success, so its a no European success (better than ours) should be all we are interested in. Employ manager without emotion, only on ability and track record in Europe, anything else irrelevant. Celtic should also hire a director of football to have a constant which they never have Sorry, Stevie Ange also talked crap too, just people believed it. Emotion when you support the team, but never when you employ the staff TBH all personnel are staff including players.
