@@darekm6859 He's quite a bit older than that, I reckon. But it's his situation more than the tools. A business has got him doing this because it's cheaper than employing a mechanic, or even having mechanic tools. And he's stuck and can't back out because it's 1) KZbin money; 2) he's given his "word" - some kind of weird omerta sort of thing. I do resent the fact that he constantly pushed buy-this-buy-that for all these years. People who want to fix/service their bike don't need to buy the Sealey/Wemoto catalogue. They just need correct advice.
@GTMarmot
@GTMarmot Жыл бұрын
@@darekm6859 He and people like him are one of the chief culprits for pushing this BS conflating needing a "shop" with having a bike. If you have a bike, you don't need a workshop. If you occasionally make something from steel, you don't a belt grinder or bandsaw. Indeed, he was in his 50s when he got these things (thanks to KZbin). And he has no training in how to use them, nor any need to use them. Just because someone has a bike, or works on a bike doesn't mean they need serious tools, or a workshop. I don't have a workshop. I have a garage. You don't need a workshop if you just occasionally make something as a hobby. I have an angle grinder and I will use that to cut steel on the rare occasion I need to. I have the space for a bandsaw, and the money to buy it, but I am not going to buy one. Just mentioning all this in case you were being snarky. Many of my tools are not the best, but they do the job. I am not a follower of Del or of Matt. I just watch videos, so if you have something to say on my channel, feel free to do so.

Why in the fuck does a tail light need to be "programmable"? Why the hell is there even a microcontroller involved? It's a safety-critical light! When the switch closes it needs to come on. THAT'S IT.

@@miff227 I don't see how. You still need a brake light switch, you still need to run power and ground to the light, except now there are data lines involved too. All this does is overcomplicate a mission-critical system.
@miff227
@miff227 Жыл бұрын
@@233kosta you only need 2 wires to loop around the bike, a power ring, and a data ring, then have the lights addressable on the data wire, then switched grounds to the nearest grounding point. Not saying they do this, but it would be a method to save wiring, and also have the lights do extra duty or change behaviour based on certain conditions etc. I agree it is more to go wrong though. Do bikes now flash their brake lights under heavy-braking for example?
