I've followed this since I was a little boy. The readers digest article gave me many pleasant day dreams of old. I read and reread that issue until it was trashed. I don't think there will ever be a major find until some really big money is invested on a 40' plus cason is dug on what comes to be the surespot.

Forget the treasure. More interested in metal cross and pendants. The archaeology here is really important. And boy is it in the WRONG hands.
@johnwoa
@johnwoa 5 жыл бұрын
@JJ Slyde I agree! The real "treasure" on Oak Island and Vicinity is its archaeological history. I have believed since the late-1990's that the cavern(s) beneath Oak Island contain an ancient tomb of someone VERY, VERY PROMINENT. Somebody in the far distant past went to an awful lot of trouble accomplishing a major feat of marine engineering on Oak Island to conceal something underground. We viewers all saw the evidence of this with the initial imagery of the bottom of Borehole 10-X ("two vertical posts, a long, rectangular 'box', steps, a 'shelf', etc..."), but we viewers were later told by the diver, "nothing to see here!", and Borehole 10-X has never been mentioned again. This Reality TV show is all about Entertainment and NOT about getting answers or solving the mystery. If they completely solved the Oak Island mystery, there wouldn't be a Reality TV show and everyone involved wouldn't be making tons of money. Watching this show is frustrating!
@marytica123
@marytica123 5 жыл бұрын
JJSlyde: Errrr… those items could have been dropped there by ANYONE, even one of the many prior "searchers". How many people today wear crosses & pendants ? Back in history, it was even more common.

NO "MYSTERY" ON OAK ISLAND - JUST AN OLD MINE. One of the first episodes revealed that the English mined for gold on Oak Island, finding only "fool's gold" (iron pyrite) instead. This would explain the deep pit, with platforms at 10' intervals. It is possible that local pirates (Anderson and Easton) used the island as a base, and perhaps some of their crew ensconced their personal treasures there for safekeeping. This would explain Samuel Ball's sudden wealth. However - a HUGE treasure, buried at over 100 feet by pirates ? LOL !
@johnwoa
@johnwoa 5 жыл бұрын
@Mary A Well said and I agree with you! However, anything "buried" or "concealed" at over 100 feet deep was not put there from above. Rather, it was put there from "below" in ancient times---- via the cavern entrance(s) that were above sea level roughly two thousand years ago. The Geological Survey of Canada mapped the bottom of Mahone Bay adjacent to Oak Island back in the 1990's and the images show underwater ancient shorelines from when Oak island was NOT an island, but part of the mainland. I have believed since the late-1990's that whatever is at the bottom of the Money Pit is a tomb of someone VERY PROMINENT in history.

What? A small thin rectangular piece of brass? With writing imprinted on it. Could it be a name plate for a treasure chest? Or possibly an ATM card issued by the Knights Templar Bank with an expiration date of 09/1698? That would explain the ATM machine sitting , half buried, just outside the money pit area. I don't think they have to do any such planting of items. It's about the mystery of the legendary history of the island for many. It may just be however, that the original searchers found much of what they're searching for today. Maybe the team back then realized that the only way to get out of the area with this treasure would be NOT to broadcast the news of the find. This way they wouldn't have to defend off thieves or have any of the issues of a reported find. Just saying. Anyways, on with the show men. I'm still intrigued by the mystery...the real search is for the absolute TRUTH, well, of course ...the treasure also !!

Has there ever been a case someone found a treasure buried by digging 150 ft deep holes? Idk of any most are simply in a cave or by a landmarked maybe 4 to 6 ft deep at the most.
