I've been a die hard fan since episode 1. Never missed a Tuesday night in 11 years.. this is officially my last season of watching. Hope they find the treasure. I can't go through another season of finding rocks, wood and coins dropped by previous residents a long time ago Oh, please don't feed me the BS that it's not about treasure, it's about the story or History...Oak Island has always been about treasure. A lady lost her whole family over treasure...it's about treasure, period.
@MykeHunts10 ай бұрын
The "treasure" is suckers like you who continue to faithfully watch the show and feed their pockets through ad revenue and air time. Even if they found something do you think they would really say anything about it? Government officials would scoop right in and make claim to most if not all the treasure. They have likely made more than the treasure is worth tbh and is the reason they have made spin off shows. If I recall correctly they had a net worth of like 1.3 mil before the show. Now they are worth hundreds of millions last I seen was around around 110mil a piece. Don't get me wrong I love the show but ultimately its entertainment and that's all. We may never know the truth and what they think is there may already be gone

@charlieharper847710 ай бұрын
@tplomonte But my point is the Oak Island story has always and will always be about treasure. I followed it as a kid in the 80s. As far as history, to show people traveled to North America before Columbus isn't that Earth shattering. Pretty obvious and not at all a stretch to believe. So really the history is BS

Finding chin in Canada is pretty common, I wear one around my neck thats from the Ming dynasty, for good luck. I found it at a beach in Ontario when I was about 14 and found an ivory carving of Ming while digging a pond in my backyard, 30 years later.

@@willlydon1863 Our entire railroad system was built by migrant workers from Asia, so it's all pretty common. I actually live about 200 feet from what used to be a railyard, so anytime I dig in my yard, I usually find artifacts from 200 years ago, including tea cups, bottles, jewelry and small trinkets. The coolest thing I've found was a tiny little gold coin from China, it's about the size of a scrap from a hole punch, but extremely detailed, I haven't had it dated or anything, but gold hasn't been used in money for at least 150 years, so I assume it's old...Gary would love metal detecting my neighborhood, he'd find a million times the amount of stuff as he finds on Oak Island, lol.

It’s disappointing about all the red tape and hoops this crew has to jump through to do their research. The local gov needs to realize the significance of archaeology in that region and allow them to work. Come to an agreement with distribution/usage of the findings, or simply install an observer with the team just so they can say they had oversight. Seems awfully petty.

Why would the water level have been lower in the past?
@johnwoa10 ай бұрын
To answer your question, the Geological Survey of Canada stated in the 1990's after doing extensive research in the waters adjacent to Oak Island that the sea level surrounding Oak Island is rising at the rate of 30 centimetres (12 inches) every one hundred years. Bathymetric maps made by said Geological Survey of the shoreline attest to this fact showing that the sea level was much lower in "ancient" times (i.e. the very distant past). Rick Lagina even briefly mentioned in a past episode a year or two ago, parroting the Geological Survey of Canada, about the slowly-rising sea level at/surrounding Oak Island. Some of the seabed, particularly that between the mainland and Oak Island (lot 1) was dry land in the very distant past and the bathymetric maps showed two (2) apertures or cave/niche entrances that probably lead to cavern(s) deep beneath Oak Island. Those entrances, now completely underwater, were probably above the mean high water line in "ancient" times and were accessible!
