@johnwoa
@johnwoa 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNBKiller I agree with you regarding the "baseless theories" that are presented on this sensation-oriented "Entertainment" Reality TV show. However, there are indeed some sound theories about Oak Island but many of the ridiculous outlandish theories presented on this show drive me up a wall! As for the alleged Roman sword, they need to enlist a better expert--- preferably someone from Europe who is more well-versed in ancient Roman antiquity. Even if the sword is genuine, it is only a ceremonial sword. As for an ancient Roman connection, Marty Lagina is a highly-educated engineer and even he stated that the rock roadway uncovered in the swamp looked like an ancient Roman road. That sword was snagged on the bottom of Mahone Bay by fishermen back in the 1940's and was kept in their family for decades until it was turned over to this TV show. Today, it is illegal under Canadian law to scavenge, remove or retrieve any artifact, etc... from the bottom of Mahone Bay. That is because of all the many thousands of ancient shipwrecks that dot the bottom of Mahone Bay. In fact, the name "Mahone" is derived from the French word essentially meaning "low, long boats driven by many oars".

3 dollars would have to be a Toonie and a Loonie. There are no pennies in Canada. The Federal government did away with them a few years ago. I love it! Half the time when I go shopping, the stores "round down" the amount of my purchase when I pay in cash and I save money! O Canada!

@@johnwoa - Let me ask you, as I forget exactly. I know, Canada doesn't make pennies anymore, not being my question, but in old terms, a Toonie is a quarter of a penny and a Loonie is an eighth, or do I have them mixed up. or otherwise inaccurate? We don't have pennies here in the States, only 'cents (fill in your own joke). I've never had a bad time in Canada. Honest.
@johnwoa
@johnwoa 4 жыл бұрын
@@dobiebloke9311 I am from the U.S. and emigrated to Canada years ago You have pennies in the U.S. They have always been called "pennies" even though the word "penny" is not on the Lincoln Cent or on the Indian Head penny. It's the same as Nickels. It doesn't say "Nickel" on the 5 cent Jefferson (coin) but they are called Nickels. As for the Canadian coins you mentioned, You have it wrong. A Loonie is our one-dollar coin and a Toonie is our two-dollar coin. Both coins replaced paper money (i.e. one and two-dollar bills) years ago. Personally, I love the one and two-dollar coins and find them very convenient to use and better than paper money. The smallest denomination Canadian coin in circulation is the Nickel. Canada is a really great place and most Americans are unaware of the purchasing power visitors have up here. When an American visits here and converts American dollars into Canadian dollars at a chartered bank, because of the exchange rate between the two currencies, one literally has a seemingly "bottomless" wallet after conversion with much more purchasing power in Canada than you would have in the U.S. with American currency.

It is a small island made-up of glacial till with a small layer of freshwater from rain sitting on saltwater maintained by the sea. No flood tunnels are needed. My guess is the coconut fibers found were used as packing for liquor bottle shipments which were likely offloaded in that desolate place to avoid tax officials at the ports and not placed there for flood tunnels. They are in smuggler's trash pile.

@@johnwoa - Basically, just vapid. Nothing more or less, usually meaning of vapor, gaseous, which is not nothing, just ask helium and the Hindenburg, not to bum you out. Just my thinking of bullsit, as 'vaquid', is the liquid state of gas, of most sorts. In someways, water is known as ice, more or less, when oxygen is combined with hydrogen to '0' degree celsius, it passes that state from a gas to a liquid, to a solid, at least as far as I know. Apparently, all gases, and combinations, do the same thing, all be it maybe at different temperatures. Fog, mist or evaporation, to ice, of some sorts, and sometimes we call it snow. I don't know, I'm just guessing. I know the sun is setting when I hear the birds crow. I know it rises, by the obverse, Is it the awakening and death of dawn or life, or night? Obviouisly, the sun doesn't rise or set on itself, as it is only our relationship to it which matters how life is. Good morning, good night, earth is vaquid.

Probably a bronze wallhanger from some neo classical study room early colonial America. Roman swords weren't bronze in the C.E. in fact, most Roman swords were iron almost a 1000 yrs before that

My dad use to love this show. Personally, I find all these meandering speculations a real disservice to archeology in general. And if there is anything important to discover on that island it's going to be forever buried in a mess of dubious, undisciplined mud that's been thrown again every wall. The first question should be, is this sword some kind of reproduction made for tourists, in some other location? I think people should google it. There might be more information available then what is presented here.

@themodernmedievalmaker2794

Because clean hands are usually enough, and the tactile sensitivity of your fingers is dulled by a glove, making it more difficult to judge if you are damaging the object.

@@themodernmedievalmaker2794 I would think that it should go beyond just damaging it from physical touching though, I'm also referring to chemical imbalances that may occur upon being touch like that. You would think damage on any level for a piece like this whether it was a real used sword or not should be avoided, hopefully tests were done prior to filming this so they knew.

If that sword was a real relic buried for 100's of years it would be seriously pitted. If you take brass or bronze and dip it in muriatic acid it will give the same appearance.
