I watched this video a bit late but I've just read your paper After reading your essay, it's kinda highlighted to me that Lari almost feels like the 'emotional woman' stereotype that show-writers were susceptible to a while back Like overall, she's a lady who has never listened to any other points of view even from people who she's meant to care for for literally 1000 years, is untrusted by Orphion and the elves to pull off anything, and ultimately the thing that suddenly makes her switch on a dime is having an emotional outburst at the player and being spoken down to by multiple old dudes Like it's absolutely bad writing, and I feel like your solution of having Dullahan have more of an impact, though not fully fixing her, would at least be a good start to saving her character somewhat

I think the questline having so much dialogue is fine IMO. It's a lore heavy questline and it's pretty cool with everything it covers. I do agree that Lari is a bit too frustrating to deal with though and she has too quick of a turn for someone who spent a millennia refusing to change their ways. I would've had Lari lose her marbels more quickly earlier but give her more time to actually go through her character arc.

The realm of light quest has two big flaws, for one, Lari is incredibly annoying, selfish, and immature. I think Lari was the Wynn dev's first attempt at "reforming" a character, starting them as flawed and childish and then having them grow and improve as a person. Problem is, they went way too comically far in the direction of "selfish main character syndrome" to the point where I actively wanted to kill Lari in my first playthrough, she was that damn annoying. If it was more subtle and didn't literally have her attack you to prove how childish she was, it would be way more enjoyable. Secondly, ROL is just so insanely dialogue and cutscene heavy that it sucks complete ass to do more than once, especially before they added the dialogue skipping mechanic. This is kind of an issue with Wynn as a whole, on your fifth or sixth playthrough of it, you don't give a fuck about any of the dialogue or cutscenes to the point where most quests just boil down to waiting for the game to let you play it again. They could've halved the length of ROL, the last few quests especially felt so bloated and drawn out. This is a minecraft server, keep your required lore dumps short and sweet and then put the rest of it somewhere else for the people that care about it. Also, really good video, for your second video ever and only having 100 subs your editing is very nice, I look forward to future content.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the kindness you and others have shown me. I enjoyed reading this and I think you nailed it on the head. While this video was mainly to shit on the fandom of simps, there's definitely some things that had me really impatient. Some people love inspecting every bit of the lore, that's fine, but for someone who's just tryna get that damned bracelet and nol raid unlocked, it is an absolute SLOG to jump into 50 picture frames repeatedly, all just to watch lari's annoying ass do more infuriating bs. I feel like for a first time player the lore would be really cool but they should just add a button in the chat to instantly skip all the dialogue and cutscenes, or they should implement the lore into the gameplay like how the Slykaar quest and Iron Heart 2 did For the Slykaar quest you find out about the history of Troms as you go through the puzzles and for Iron Heart 2 the lore is implied all the way to the end

A LOT of the lore is already somewhere else… you don’t have to look at all the Secret Discoveries and read everything in them, you don’t have to find lore tidbits and other secrets scattered around the map, you don’t have to read all the dialogue from every non-essential quest NPC (since you don’t need to talk to them to progress) or every non-quest NPC, you don’t have to read item lore, etc. Yeah, I get the cutscenes are annoying, but how many classes are you really leveling? And I would disagree with the notion that the 5th/6th time around no one is going through and inspecting all the dialogue because I do that but that’s just me: every single playthrough I still take time to appreciate every single aspect of the quests. There should probably be a skip feature but lore should be in quests because it would be incredibly strange to not have lore int he most important part of your MMO. Don’t see any reason to change the lore that’s already IN RoL quests. “This is a Minecraft server” okay? So what? Literally everything in Wynncraft is different from Minecraft. Wynncraft is its own game with its own important lore. It should be treated as if it were a separate game from Minecraft (which is why I think Wynncraft should not be branded as the “Minecraft MMORPG” because it might be a bad thing to assume it’s related to Minecraft in any way), and as such the lore in Wynncraft is equally important to its worldbuilding as the lore in any stand-alone RPG. In particular, the RoL quests contain the barebone amount of lore to actually understand the concept that the entirety of Wynncraft story revolves around: the War of the Realms. You NEED to have that in at least SOME quest, and it’s not as if it goes into fine detail either, you can do all the Secret Discoveries for that. If you don’t understand even the basic foundations that RoL lays you get statements like “Gavel has Corruption”.

I can't say the Realm of Light questline is perfect, but most of what it adds to the lore is pretty good, although Lari's character leaves a lot to be desired I like that the Wynn devs at least attempted to write a more complex character with proper character development, since just about every other NPC is completely 1-dimensional, but it's their first attempt, they're amateurs at writing deep characters and it shows That being said The Silent Expanse is still Peak Wynncraft, I sure do love Cosmic Horrors beyond human comprehension :D

@@meefy_ hard for me to dive into this without paragraphing like crazy so I'll try to shorten it a bit. I face a pretty big problem, I do A LOT of sampling that goes way beyond just art, in my last vid I think I used clips from over 50 diff people, albeit each clip being around 2 - 4 seconds each. But I transform the content, I'm not a clips channel, although sometimes I will sometimes show a clip in whole, like the olinus bmonk vs acro from my last video, which I do credit. I also use plenty of meme GIFs as well, and those are near impossible to credit. Unsure where this line should be drawn, should I just not use them? I could make a pastebin, but usually youtubers only stick to crediting for music (I kinda don't wanna credit nintendo since I think that will get my video targeted), or just keep sticking to crediting people who's content I use a lot of or people who's content I don't really transform. I like that you bring it up though, it's been weighing on me too, though personally I wouldn't mind people using my content either if they were transforming it the same way I did. I could make a pastebin (once youtube lets me, I can't make my video description too big), but I think I'm gonna have a hard time pinpointing all of the artists for it (which I'm willing to at least try to find) Under copyright laws, I'm definitely fine. Morally, I think I could be putting in a bit more effort but tl;dr I'd like to find a decent solution without it affecting the end product of my content. It would be tragic if I didn't include Lari feet pic solely because I can't find the artist of the picture

@@LunaTalks honestly i really like the way ur content is made and i can see the struggle when not being able to find the source of the art/clip. but when u do know the source, i feel a solution could be to add the artist's/ clip owner's username (along w the platform u found it on) in the corner of the image/ clip ur using? that way you wouldn't need to clutter up ur description with all the @s or links. and most sources for at least wynncraft art in my opinion are easy to find. usually its on the forums or discord. maybe on the rare chance u cant find the source, i think asking people would be good (since i think a lot of the ppl in the wynn community recognize prominent artists)

Prolly expected a common 10 - 20 lines of dialogue, not an astoundingly rare 52 lines of dialogue. Story depth is cool, if you're doing this questline on multiple slots for the massive amount of essential stuff it unlocks (very important), most people in their right mind are gonna mash dialogue skips as well after they've already ran it once or twice.

Wow, a video about wynncrafts story? real? If you're willing to, I'd honestly like to see more videos focusing and bringing to light more actaully well written parts of the game instead. I feel those are quite sorely underrecgonised. Stuff like hollow serenity or canary calls, or even smaller snippets of lore or character writing like a lot of the festival dialogues like from gale or ope(I fuckin love opes dialogue it completely recontextualises his character into something interesting and unique in only a few lines), the post lexdale witch trials diary, or miyagis character(though thats mostly from the hive drabbles text).

Wynncraft genuinely has some really cool content (even rol is pretty cool, lari is just annoying lol). I think Point of No Return especially piqued my attention, it's incredibly well done and the concept is super unique, and I feel like it would be really cool to deep dive into the quest and find some deeper meanings behind it. My research on rol admittedly sucked a bit, though but my efforts were mainly geared towards the fandom
