Crandall that plastic tote will turn into an oven when the sun shines on it so the ducks will no doubt abandon that nest for something cooler, it is a cool looking little home for them but I am afraid the sun will make it way to warm for them. Hi from Stoney Creek , Ontario, Canada

Do you have racoons in your area? If so, they can swim easily and that could be bad for the babies.

Raccoons can swim. On we tried to drown our Cocker Spaniel in our creek years ago, but our dog handled it being a water dog that could also do the alligator style roll.
