Glad your covering Genocyber but have you considered Bio Boosted Armor Guyver? I've mentioned it on your past posts but I'm here once again to HIGHLY recommend it to you! Considering its a long running manga like Berserk and Bastard, you'll be in for a treat! There's a detailed 12 episode OVA series and even a 2005 reboot series that'll make you crave more!

I think you should probably look up an explanation of the story for Genocyber. Because it's a lot deeper than you give it credit for. It isn't "just about the gore". It requires you pay attention to what is happening, because a shallow watching is going to just leave you confused.

The story was never meant for kids so saying it wasn’t very good when you saw it when you were young makes me think you just don’t understand Genocyber. Hell I don’t completely understand it. This anime would be perfect as a cyberpunk2077 spinoff like edgerunners. If you view this in the dystopian cyberpunk universe where cops/ military are powerless to the big corporations , and they are all experimenting to create the most powerful cyborgs first it makes the story much more engaging then things just happening for the sake of the next bloodbath .

@@mrsticky005, let me make this clear: this kind of animation and the scale of this kind of nightmare fuel seems like the kind of stuff that is done for shock value. The fact that the story doesn't really go anywhere or have any lasting emotional impact beyond nausea and terror is evident of that. It's an attempt to expand upon what is arguably horror for horror's sake and trying to make something profound out of it is laughable. I like horror elements. I've been a fan of Berserk since I was seven years old. But Berserk's horror elements always having a deeper level to them that illustrate some inner manifestation of a character's nature or is set up for juxtaposition against another, such as Guts' and Griffith's appearances seeming like they are designed to be the villain and the hero by traditional standards, yet the opposite being the case. The mutilation of Guts' body had a point. Hell, even the complete breakdown and torture of Griffith at the hands of a sexual sadist had a point. And that shit made me vomit in my goddamn mouth and gave me nightmares for weeks. Genocyber was an attempt to expand upon a one-shot concept and fell short with the shock value of intense gore, child mutilation, and enough viscera to make the directors of The Boys choke on their own bile.

Genocyber had a difficult production history that effected its narrative. There were 3 volumes created and they weren't made back to back. More like years apart. There was an attempt of trying to fill in the blanks the incompleted manga couldn't do. From a visual design, its fantastic! However, if your craving a story, its a children of science turned messiah; then become a destructive Overfiend. It's truly a mess story wise, but fantastic eye candy!

i feel like all these pure violence animes are just a way of japan trying to shed its awful WW2 history and acts a permutation of Go Nagai's Devilman, which was made to protest against war by showing how low human kind can descend. they all have the following in common: -throw in some titties and tentacles to sell the product(devil made ate a demon's boobs in the OVA) - a demon or god is hidden in a human body, - some higher level power is trying to misguide the lower level beings - there is some prophecy or force to unleash that demon, -lots and lots of human blood shed while the main character struggles to control their inner demon, -the world is going to blow up if nothing is stopped -the 1/2 demon 1/2 human is good. the pure demon is misguided and evil. humans are pure evil.

Me in the 90´s loved this OVA of course much for the designs and visuals(and music) but also the cryptic cyber punk "surrealism", watched it many times and felt getting more pieces of the puzzle came together bit by bit....of course now looking back it is obvious the creators here did not get enough budget to flesh out the whole story. koichi ohata who did most of the work here is perhaps best with mecha designs...and ideas rather then being a director.

They aren't the evil scientist's daughters, they're the daughters of the scientist who originally came up with the vajra research, and died years before the story. The evil scientist is the guy who killed their father. Diana's robotic limb replacements weren't due to random cruel experiments; her natural body was paralysed from the waist down since birth, so it was actually specifically done so she could have a functioning body. This is all stated explicitly in the anime

In 25 years I still can’t remember lol. All I do remember is it’s mostly set in a construction site skyscraper building and there’s one evil character if I remember correctly, he gets his arm chopped off and the blood from his arm turns into some like demon and he uses it as a weapon. He fights the main character in the skyscraper. That’s all I remember! Hopefully you can answer this life long question of mine 🙏 thank you! Love your videos!

I've recently watched the first one and I didn't like it at all. Just to be clear I though the animations and some characters concept were cool but as the movie goes by, I've noticed that the only thing that sustain the whole thing was the gore factor, and even that felt a little out-dated and silly at times. I don't know if the secuels are better (cause I haven't seen them yet) but definitely the first OVA didn't do it for me... Honestly, go watch Wicked City instead.
