I hate it when Soraki loses. He is so good. I know he is not the traditional hip hop that people are used to but that is why I love him. He has his own style and musicality. No one dances like him. I tend to think dancers start to all look the same after a while. I find Soraki to stand out.

D Soraki is really disrespected. Talking about its not hip hop enough...lol what? Laura was fantastic, but D Soraki is a completely different level to most of the dancers in the competition. Glad he got his flowers and respect at red bull.

Different level? Laura Nala based off facts won the battle by better musicality. You can be anything in dance but if you don't match the music firmly you lose. It was a fair judgment.

My humble opinion…despite Soraki being a very good dancer, I feel he did more of a mix of Popping/Isolation techniques + some HipHop bounces, without the two being integrated well together. For a HIPHOP battle, he also didn’t demonstrate a consistent flow/ groove that matches the music (which Laura did). He did hit many musicalities, but in a quite scattered way. But still he is very good as an Open Style dancer 👍👍

When I saw this battle live, I saw a lot of comments talking about stealing Soraki, I disagree that it was robbery here, especially because the battle was very even. And watching this battle again, I think there should be another round. Both danced well, and practically at the same level, it's impossible to know if there was a clear winner, in my opinion. In my opinion, even though you gotta give him credits for the originality of his dance, he "simply" only went for the 4 counts. If you watch closely, he's nearly only taking the closed high hats, while Nala's flow was more versatile and she reacted to different/multiple samples. It's a clear win for Nala for me as well.
@dancingismylife144449 ай бұрын
please tell me the mean "only went for the 4 counts". Cause I'm Japanese, I think soraki's moving very crealy and good. But I can't understand What samples she reacted. it is difficult for me to understand her musical sense.
@malitantrasthemo9 ай бұрын
@@dancingismylife14444 Hey so I did rewatch their rounds again and I correct myself so far, that Soraki did not only answered the 4 count (that's the metallic snare sound you can hear every 4th count), but also other elements of the track like the melodic synth or the echoed "ya" during the chorus. While It may sound like it, I don't mean to discredit Soraki at all! He's one of the most promising prodigies internationally and at such a young age! But there are 2 specific reasons to why I think he lost that battle against Nala. 1. Recognising Sorakis unique dance style and his accuracy of hitting the snare, I think it still has downsides he needs to improve. One would be that through this style being in such precise movements, he's basically using dime stops (nearly) to accentuate his movements, which is interrupting his flow and he's using them way too frequently (you can even see Nala imitating him during his round, signalling that his movement style is repetitive). Beside the flow being an integral part of hip hop dancing it also limits somewhat his tempo: there is pretty little tempo change whatsoever during his round and it rather feels like he's transitioning from one concept to another, than making it look like one whole flowing dance (maybe also due to the small stops he's putting in) 2. Another way more important point and probably also the winning point: Nala did not only dance to the beat, but also to the vocals/lyrics which gave her a lot more depth. Now dancing to vocals/lyrics can be tricky, cause if you don't know the track or the rappers style of flow, it can become hard sometimes to predict flow changes. The only thing here is, that Nala went first and he therefore had enough time to technically listen to the flow + his last fingerpoint move makes me believe he knew the track already, so there's also "no excuse" as In him not rly responding to the lyrics too much. Another thing Nala did respond to, that I haven't rly seen in his round is the bass, which is significantly harder to figure out and a lot of dancers are not taking it into account. You can see that rly well towards the end of her round, where she pushes her hands outwards with every hit of the bass and finishes her round with the throw movement, that is in sync with the vocals. I wanted to properly answer therefore this long message, sry for that. Another thing is the cultural difference: battles in Europe are judged quite differently than battles in Asia (ofc I'm generalising). From what I've seen the cleanness and precision of movements is very important in Asia, while in Europe the flow and creativity are more focussed (imo).
