I saw the Damned in ATL a few summers back. This is their creative peak? What the hell are U smoking? I'd like to know.

WOW. Opening up with Therapy. That's bold, it being not a single but a deep cut. Never would have thought they did this "Peel live" after putting it down in studio. Fantastic chops.

Man! That is a good live performance. I can't imagine how incredible their live shows were at the time.

I convinced a friend to go see them around 2002, he was not enthused. Ultimately he was super impressed and I think it was one of the best shows I've ever seen (The Social, Orlando, 2002) Long live the Damned.

Gotta love Curtain Call. Punk meets prog. An awesome blend of my two favourite musical genres
@BarisonMassacre4 жыл бұрын
I'd say an experimental-gothic-thrash- punk. Because it seems like they stick it a scale but keep the hook, and most of all; a deep haunting/hypnotising tempo. :)

Not Boring enough to call it Prog.,. Prog helped to Create Punk due to Its Pompous 10 Minute Musical Virtuosity Solos by Every Instrument in Each Song.,. Suppose they were good for Letting the Singer have a Nap during Them Haha.,.

I agree! And I was thinking the same thing when listening to their Peel Session from '79 just before 🙂

Definitely. I think that The Black Album has some really weak production, but a lot of the songs are really good. Perfect for a Peel Session.

I think The Damned should release a new album with all the BBC sessions. The one from 1993 omitted Hit or Miss and used a poor tape recording of the 1978 sessions because the original tape was missing then (it has luckily been recovered later).

Nah! As great as it is (and that era of the band's output in general was, per-se) "The Black Album" was 2nd best. The best was "Machinegun Etiquette" and associated material from late 1978 to late 1979.
@c.s.44283 жыл бұрын
They wouldn't even have been around to make this record had they not already made two stone-cold classic/legendary albums first: "Damned Damned Damned" AND "Machine Gun Etiquette". The Black Album is their best album 'after' they ceased to be a punk band but it is far from being their best album, methinks.

I wish Sensible would bury his hatchet and invite Rat back for a reunion gig, will probably never happen though, Sensible is a great guitarist but a bit of wanker as well.

The Damned - Peel Session 1980 0442am for the rest of your lives.... still going strong and arguably the most coherent of the music hall dregs that you term punk. these are the bands punks hate eg: damned, sex pistols, ramones... psychedelic furs.. it's just pop music. can see him now.... just jizzin himself as the bass line runs it's course. disinterest or vacant stare - either way that's how to approach celebrity culture. gettin excited about stuff is a bit crap of you, sir.... therapy? a band from eire. and a song by a band called the damned. oh ohohohohoho... i think the bass line is the saving grace of this song,not necessarily his excitement as he plays air bass and used tin foil roll drum...
