I like the descriptions, I would like even more information. My favourite part about these videos is learning about who made the automata.

Just landed on your videos - absolutely love them, thank you. Amongst others, I watched the 'Boxer Dog Automaton Mechanism' short video - I am interested in the exact cam mechanism and the lifting of the front foot. Can you show a video of how this mechanism works in more detail? I would like to try and replicate it.😃

I have always loved the distinctive sound of a music box and also my first real introduction was probably the 1970's musical version of "Scrooge" with Albert Finney in the title role and Tiny Tim and his sister "Kathy" peek in the toy store windows and it pans across all the toys including some automata and Kathy pines over the "Dolly in the corner" an automata of a woman who lifts a hand mirror to her face then turns to look into the mirror. I have often wondered if that was a real antique automata they found to use as a prop or something they made in modern times.

The music seem to be Lara's Theme, published in 1965, from the film Dr. Zhivago, released in 1966. Does this make the automaton even later than thought? Or was the music drum updated, perhaps? Using that tune (hugely popular, in its day) might have been a clever marketing ploy!

It's also possible that Lara's Theme was inspired by something older

Yes, your right it has to be nearer to 1970 than 1960.

I think the tune is called “Somewhere, My Love”. Edit - just educated myself by googling - the song is indeed that, also known as “Lara’s Theme”, & composed for the movie Dr. Zhivago.
