Hey buddy, I follow your KZbin videos and I'm so glad you had your buddy with you, this could of been really bad. I'm glad you were able to get back on the kayak and made it to shore, the weather could get very bad, real fast. I thank you so much for sharing this video with us, it's a learning experience for everyone to always have a buddy system. God bless you my brother. 💯💪🎣🐋🐟👍👍👍

When the wind kicks up that can happen. I lost all my rods on a capsize in 25 mph wind and whitecaps. Watching the video I noticed you really struggled to re-enter the kayak. Jeez, you really need to praactice unassisted re-entry.

Glad you are safe. I've been kayak fishing offshore i Hobies for around 15 years, and have been rolled out once - due to taking a dumb risk fishing a bombie and paying the price. It's a horrible experience. Now, without wanting to be holier than thou, but purely objective in a friendly way, I really think this was a great example of why not to use electric motors offshore. In swell, you need to have as much control of your speed as possible and be able to back off immediately if you feel a wave pick you up. Hobies do not surf well and if you do get picked up, as soon as you drop the fins, your basically introducing a skeg at the front that will want to spin the hull - like doing a back- to-front take off on a mal. Each to their own - if you want electric motors offshore, then make sure you have a throttle you can instantly control. All the best though.

Thank you so much for the knowledge and the experience i really appreciated. i have learned a lot from that experience. i was thinking the same thing i should have killed the motor 🙏

LG, Very good points about Hobies surfing with swells/waves from behind. A few weeks ago on the way in, my Lynx was basically surfing, I watched my speed and made sure I was nearly perpendicular to the waves from behind. I think I could have flipped, but was luckily enough to get closer to shore and the winds were less. Lesson learned, I won’t be hanging around if the weather changes….

Lots of good comments. And I like your attitude of lesson learned and humility. Glad you’re safe. An observation. A following sea is like beach landing, which is very difficult and you can flip easily, me included. Another idea is to practice getting back on your kayak. I’ve literally taken my kayak in the pool in the backyard and worked on flipping it right side over and getting back in the kayak. I can do it in about four seconds. You could think about practicing getting back on the kayak in a safe situation. Anyway, great job. I’m glad you’re safe.

You had a great day fishing it happens to a lot of people you were setting hooks all day and you didn't want it to end and you probably were in water you wouldn't have been in if you weren't catching fish. That was some awesome camera work, and you handled it well . And remember, always fish with your buddy. I'm glad you're ok. their are videos on how to get back in a kayak when you flip . I'm glad you're safe. If you've motorize that Hobie, you should consider switching to an old town auto pilot. It is heavier and slower, but has spot lock and a lot more stable than the hobby since it's about 3 inches wider. I switched from the outback to the auto pilot because the hobie felt sketchy in rough water with lots of body roll. I still have the hobie but only use it in rivers and marshes. I prefer the AP136 in open water. You should check one out.

You cheap out on the motor rig causing imbalance to the left thus you had to lean on the right. You can afford outback, you can afford another $1500 proper motor rig setup. Also, wetsuit, not dry suit

@@llfisherman2586 I have outback with new port nk180 motor setup (this is a budget friendly brand). You can add hobie sidekick to stabilize. I have sidekick but rarely use them. Most importantly, don’t go out if swell is above 4. I stopped going out if above 3.
