Hello Beautiful People!
On a recent trip to Phoenix it occurred to me how Corporate cultures breed and enable the Institutionalization of their employees.
Typically, inmates or prisoners are referred to as "Institutionalized". Meaning they've been subject to a system of routine and habit for so long thay they cannot operate or exist outside of the physical walls of their prison environment. This is most often seen with recidivism, where individuals have paid their debt to society but lack the social, emotional and cultural skills necessary to be successful outside of Prison...because they have been institutionalized after spending 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 or the majority of their lifetime behind bars.
People can also become institutionalized by spending 10, 20, 30, or the majority of their lives within corporate structures. The corporate form of Institutionalization is so insidious because 99% of people who have been institutionalized by a lifetime spent in Corporate culture don't know that. Rather, upon retirement or being expelled from the "safety" of the corporate routine they find themselves emotionally, mentally, spiritually and practically ill equipped for self sufficiency. This self sufficiency is entrepreneurship.
Hence why there is such a dismal failure rate (~98%) from people who transition from a lifetime spent in Corporate America to entrepreneurship.
Listen in. Ask yourself are you being set up for failure by being institutionalized by your corporate career and what can you do to save yourself?
