Doctors that actually care about about patients, and finding answer to complex problems, this is so sixties, the writer should have seen that the educate class would devolve into what it has become today, just outright selfish and greedy, I think a sci fi writer today would write about how low can you go

You have a childish view humanity. In every era, there are good people and evil people. In the 1960 (and earlier) bad doctors did all sorts of horrible experiments on human beings. E.g: 1) From the 1950s to 1972, mentally disabled children at the Willowbrook State School in Staten Island, New York were intentionally infected with viral hepatitis. 2)Look up the Tuskegee syphillis study (1932-1972) 3)In 1963, 22 elderly patients at the Jewish Chronic Disease Hospital in Brooklyn, New York City were injected with live cancer cells by Chester M. Southam. 4) So many experiments have been done by doctors on prisoners over the years that it would be difficult to list them all here.
