Rode the Robin side every year from 04-07, but sadly the Batman side was never open, so never got to experience it. One thing that was crazy about this ride was how loud it was, I mean ROARING LOUD, you could hear this thing from anywhere in the park easily. Sucks hearing about donating the generator, I wonder if any of the problems would have arose like they did if they didn’t make that call. Nonetheless, awesome video, you got yourself a subscriber.

The signature roar was the dominant feature of this roller coaster , it was a breakthrough technological innovation for its time. I remember riding when the over the shoulder harnesses were still in use and the no earing rule was implemented. Both sides were very rough. The Dark Knight coaster was a disappointing replacement. The pre-show was better than the actual attraction. The promotional ads built Dark Knight up to be some new ground breaking experience and made it a point to let you know the millions spent on it, so it had to be good. I recall it basically being an indoor mouse coaster with some unimpressive show scenes.

So you’re telling me all the problems arose from them donating a generator to a mister freeze clone? Ouch that hurts… I remember the Chiller all too well. What a shame. Im sure more heavy duty wheel sets could have been fabricated to help with the forces instead of removing the zero G rolls… so sad it’s not around. It didn’t deserve this.

@Kingdakev17 күн бұрын
And while not all the problems were caused by the generator being removed, it was a big big factor in it. :(
@DanielBlaney17 күн бұрын
The wheel assemblies were ultimately what did it in. They thought it was the zero g rolls but the issue remained and the Robin side had a catastrophic failure in its final year. I suspect it was the Cobra Roll on the Robin side causing the issues. It was taken at a very fast speed and each half was at a 90 degree angle instead of the more acute angles most Cobra rolls use to minimize laterals. In it's final year the Robin side was actually using the Batman sides train but painted red.
@Kingdakev17 күн бұрын
@@DanielBlaneythat could be why premier has never built another cobra roll like it. I honestly think the wheel assemblies weren't designed to properly handle the forces of the layouts. Thinking more about it, they might have had less issues running the batman side verse the robin side due to the forces placed on the trains. I have personally never heard of stress fractures happening to the batman train why it was running on the batman track.
@ald727817 күн бұрын
That’s wild. All these years and never heard they took a generator. It’s always been portrayed as it simply drew too much power on its own to function properly. Explains a lot if the power issue was a self inflicted wound

This and Stuntman's were the best rides in the park at the time. Chiller is still my favorite coaster of all time. To echo another commenter the ride was LOUD and when it was open everyone could hear it. I was lucky enough to experience opening day for this and the original Batman The Ride back in 1993. That day we were the last people to ride Batman the Ride, as we got onto the ride at closing (after 10PM). One of the best experiences I ever had was on Batman the Ride. I do remember riding Batman and Robin many times. I guess I was lucky enough to visit the park when there were no or very few ride closures as I only remember some brief power issues occurring. I remember fondly the countdown to the launch and over the loud speaker with them saying "Please secure all hats and glasses and prepare to launch in 3, 2, 1...dispatch enjoy your ride".....(or something like that). Luckily I did not get any headaches etc. from riding this. VIPER was another story. I came off that each time with a back and headache, even worse than from the back car on the Scream Machine. That viper coaster rattled so much (maybe that's why it was called VIPER)...who knows. Thanks for taking me down memory lane for a brief moment.

Thank you for sharing those memories! I barely remember them counting down. Haha I just remember the sound it made when the ride took off and how loud it was in the observatory when exiting! Sadly I never got to ride viper. The one time I was able to, my parents suggested we ride rolling thunder first to work my way up to it (I was a wimp back in the day) and by the time we got back, viper broke down and was closed for the day. As a kid who had season passes from the mid 90s through the early 00s, Chiller was a big deal. The line was always packed although it was frequently closed for maintenance purposes. Chiller was fun, but I thought it was kind of over hyped given the long wait time and how short it was. I also remember it not being the smoothest coaster experience which is saying something when you still had rough rides like Scream Machine and Rolling Thunder back then. When Nitro opened in 2001, it lost a lot of its luster and just felt dated. A few of us went for Fright Fest a couple months ago. It had been close to 20 years since I was there last, but it was great going on some of the old rides I remembered as a kid. Nitro is still awesome and we were very happy to see the original Batman ride was still running despite being significantly older than Chiller. That one was a blast to revisit. Still a great coaster to this day.

I bet Six Flags Great Adventure will build a B&M intertwined inverted coaster called Robin & Superboy: The Escape that will fit in Batman Stunt Show's spot for Spring 2030. Robin's track is red and Superboy's track is dark blue. Both supports are black. It operates with several steel and fiberglass trains. Each train has eight cars with four seats for a 32 riders per train. All Superboy trains were painted red with blue backrest and yellow flexible over-the-shoulder restraints while Robin trains with green backrest and yellow flexible over-the-shoulder restraints. As the train leaves the station, a record messages "Teen Titans Theme Song" is played. After Superboy train climbs its chain lift hill, reaching a peak height of 113 feet (34 em). After a small pre-drop, the roller coaster train then drops to the left before entering its first inversion, a vertical loop. Riders then travel through an underground trench and enter an Immelmann loop which sends the train in the opposite direction. The train then drops towards the ground, climbs back up, and spins through a zero-g roll, an inverting element where riders experience the feeling of weightlessness. Afterwards, the train dives back towards to the ground and enters the two-inversion batwing element which crosses a tunnel underneath the park's rear entrance. As Superboy train exits the batwing, it climbs through a camelback hill over a station before entering its final inversion, corkscrew to the left. The train then begins a 270-degree climbing a helix to the right, after it reaches the ride's brake run and returns to the station. As the train leaves the station, a record messages "Teen Titans Theme Song" is played, After Robin climbs its chain lift hill, reaching a peak height of 113 feet (34 em). After a small pre-drop, the roller coaster train then drops to the right before entering its first inversion, a vertical loop. The train passes through a Immelmann loop. After the Immelmann loop, the train goes through a zero-g roll, followed by a cobra roll over the T-Car. The train then makes a full 360-degree upward right turn followed by a left turn leading into another drop. After the drop, the train makes highly banked right into a flat spin. Next, the train makes a left turn (extremely close to the ground) before heading to an airtime, and back up which leads to the brake run. After exiting the brake run, the makes a right turn into a second, shorter, set of brakes before entering the station. When first entering the queue, guests are taken past a number of banners for Jump City showing for the four contestants. After passing the Duela Dent's Hideout, they enter the Titans Tower. From there, guests pass a large screen with Batman and Robin which lead to both coaster's stations. Just before they are entering the station, guest must choose which coaster they ride: Superboy to the left or Robin to the right. Once in the station, on the ceiling, there is a logo of Superboy and Robin.

Oh no! I’m sorry you didn’t like it! Sadly I never got to ride freefall at gadv. The one time I tired to ride it my friend didn’t want to go on it and so I missed out

I once spent entire day just going on Scream Machine and my neck was in pain after that. I managed to get on this once in 2004 obviously the robin side Let me tell you my neck was way worse after that then on the scream machine. I wasn't shocked to hear it close when I did cuz it just was never a functional ride. Damn that was an experience. And loud RORE was everything
