It's an unfortunate and ill-conceived euphemism for the original term _Judenhass_ (Jew hatred) popularized by Wilhelm Marr in the 1870s for the name of his organization, "Antisemiten-Liga" (league of antisemites). It means opposition to Jews as a people and had a racial connotation that was appealing to Germans after Darwin's Origin of Species became popularized and vulgarized. After 100 years it's not as appealing as it once was and people would rather not be labeled with it. Consequently, there's a new euphemism, "anti-Zionism," but the referent always remains the same.

One shocker for me was Ben Gurion University and its program of making deserts flourish. Students come their from around the world to earn degrees in this science and then take it home to help their own countries. This is amazing. One source I read says that after growing food for Israel, the farming of the Negev exports enough food each year to feed 30 million people! From a desert! I personally believe that we are called to lead by example as the early believers and that will be our best witness. But at the end of the day we are called to love and pray for those who decide to listen to the Gospel of Jesus. Christian here. The thing that irritates me most of this concept of "the Jews" as if they were this univocal community all working to some nefarious goal. In my observation there are no "The Jews". They are as diverse in their practice (or non-practice, as the case may be) of Judaism as people who are notionally Christian. As for me, I have been around Jewish people my entire life and experienced nothing but mutual friendship and respect. Sure I know that it's not the case with all people, but as we have just heard there are reasons for that. FWIW, the Jewish community is as much in my prayers as my own community... I have read both the Protocols of Zion and Mein Kampf among several other hateful books and articles as part of my research into the holocaust. I studied British Military history from the 19th Century. More in depth with WW1 & WW2 of which I still just managed to speak with WW1 Veterans. I obviously heard of, and learned abouut the Holocaust. But in 1986 I bought six personal accounts of survivors of the Holocaust. It was total horror, extrreme horror. To try and comprehend how one human could treat other humans is unbelievable horror, but facts demonstrate that the unbelievable is believable. After the events of the Holocaust, education about the Holocaust, I am shocked to my core of how much Antisemitism exists in the West. The same West that defeated NAZI Germany. Never again, but it did in the Balkans. Now the hatred against the Jew is rampant in our Universities, both Students and the Professors, and Lecturers are joining in on this evil. One image that I saw in the US, a young man, fellow student identified as a Jew was chased down by a mob and cornered, he stopped, with nowhere to go and raised his hands to surrender. No doubt, he recognised faces of Students who were probably friends before 7th October... to see that young man, hands up, quiet obviously frightened, made me cry.

Ollie and Trudy should know that most people that read the Bible clearly, have a great deal of respect for Jewish people and the modern nation of Israel. I'm quite aware of the terrible history of Christianity's persecution once their followers gained political power. I'm also very alarmed over the idea of forced conversions. Jesus does not approve of such things, full stop. It’s a really interesting point about Hitler about how he clearly believed the conspiracies about the Jews, generally, and in the putative Protocols, specifically. I'm a Gentile Christian Israeli and I do want to point out that Evangelicals who are Dispensationalist are the greatest supporters of Israel and the Jewish people in the world right now. That was also the theological framework of the Christians who were Righteous Among the Nations during the Holocaust. Its usually the Reformed/Covenantal Evangelicals who hold hold to supersessionism that leads to antisemitism. I'm trying to do my part, on behalf of my Jewish husband and in laws. Make Aliyah guys!
