Indian music is divided into Hindustani classical and Carnitic classical music. Both music can get you into meditation. For Hindustani you can refer kaushiki Chakrabarti and for Carnatic you can refer to Abhishek Raghuram concerts

I get it that you guys are not that musically inclined or educated but that's the magic of music that it moves you inspire of that handicap. That's sarangi and not sitar as you mentioned. And you don't require "vocabulary" for singing classical. They're called "ragas", the mixing of the universal seven notes of the music. But I like you guys. Thanks for the appreciation for the wonderful piece put together by Tushar. Great. I loved it.

Achara, the mainly most recognised indian classical music are 1. Hindustani music and 2. Carnatic music there are many well known musicians are there in both of this music type. Other than this you can listen to old retro times bollywood songs in which there are sooooo many hit heart touching songs are there. After listening to to few song and some songs after few times you will start getting a touch and feel of the indian music. And the songs are easy also to catch and sing along with it. As for singer wise, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishor Kumar, Manna Day, Asha Bosle, S.P Balasubramaniyam, Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet and Sonu Nigam have sang some really good songs. You can make a collection of it to listen every now and then. Music is a nice way to catch up with tge language as it comes along with feelings. You can get the lyrics translation for most of the hindi songs. For trial - There is this band called SANAM which remakes some of the old songs with its originality and a touch of new instruments. You can listen to their songs on their channel in you tube and can also react to it if you like. I personally like the band. Checkout his channel. You may also like it.

You could follow all the famous musicians (instruments) - ustad zakir Hussain (tabla-percussion), pandit shivkumar Sharma (Santoor), pandit Ravi Shankar (sitar). Ustad Amjad Ali khan and his sons , pandit Hariprasad chaurasiya (flute), they all are (pandits/ustad)masters of the instruments they play. Then you.could listen to pandit bhimsen Joshi (vocalist) , and other vocalists too. These are all classical Hindustani music. For ghazals please listen to jagjit Singh ji. For Sufi music you could listen to nusrat fateh ali khan sahab, his nephew rahat fateh ali khan, mirza ghalib, etc. But for starters to indian music you could just watch MTV cokestudio all seasons (India and pakistan ) and then follow all the above mentioned.
