This Trilogy, has literally SAVED my life many times. Whenever I feel low, I always turn to The Dark Knight Trilogy, we watch a man who has lost his family, the love of his life, we watch a man get beaten by life, we watch a man whose principles are fundamentally challenged, and despite his lowest moments, he always manages to persevere, and... RISE. I honestly don’t know what i’d have done in my darkest moments if I couldn’t take comfort in the messages these films portray. Perhaps my favourite take on Batman, because he’s the most realistic take on the best, non-super, superhero going, Bat-MAN! Why do we fall?

oh its quite simple... passion. theres a reason movies made between 2000 and 2010 often times have better CGI than modern movies and theres a reason practical effects are almost always better than CGI.... because the people behind the movie wanted to make a good movie they were not there purely to make a buck. passion at the end of the day is more important than money as only passionate people can truly make good things.

Like, for example, the Joker wants to create chaos. He was to be "different" from society. You can understand that and it makes sense why he does what he does, but that doesn't make it right. Thanos, from the MCU, wanted to solve overpopulation. That's a good goal, it's just that the way he does it is wrong. You understand it, though.

I'm so dumb. I just realised, the pit that Bruce was prisoner in in TDKR is literally a metaphor for the well he fell in when he was a kid. In the well, he faced his fear of bats. In the pit, he faced his fears of dying while his city burnt. Both encounters taught him that fear is what makes you stronger. I guess that's why even when Bruce was knocked out after his attempt of trying to climb out of the pit, we hear his fathers voice saying "Why do we fall?". The entire trilogy more than anything else is about Bruce’s Hero’s journey and his character arc. Nolan weaves in some big ideas and things to think about for sure - but the reason he created this trilogy was to do what no other director has done with Batman. Show and complete an entire character arc for the character at the end of which he has conquered his tragic past. That was the mission and he hit it out of the park. Bruce’s initial wound -life changing event of his parents being murdered in front of him shaped his life from that point until he emerges from the pit in Rises. Most people get that Bruce blames himself for the deaths of his parents because he let his fear of bats get control over him and because they leave the opera early, they are in the alley alone. Nolan makes his father’s last words to Bruce: “Don’t be afraid.” I don’t think Thomas says that to blame him. But I fully believe eight year Bruce interpreted it that way. So he spends years of his life learning to conquer his fear, and fear becomes a central element in Bruce’s life, the story and the plot. But here’s what a lot of people don’t grasp about Nolan’s version of Bruce Wayne’s story: Bruce suffers from survivor’s guilt. Not only does he believe he’s ultimately responsible for his parents’ death - he believes he should have died with them. It is a central misbelief of his. But because he didn’t die with his parents, he does the next “best thing” and dedicates his entire life to atoning for their deaths by fulfilling his parents’ dream: to save and restore Gotham to what it once was. He is STUCK in that mindset and it becomes his life’s goal. This is what the Trilogy is about - showing how badly Bruce is “stuck”, the extremes he has gone to to make things right, the way he is sacrificing mind, body and soul and his own life’s journey. He is obsessed. Nolan quickly addressed the vengeance issue but chose not to focus on it - instead maturing Bruce quickly past it to him being about justice - this is the Rachel character’s influence on him. I like that Nolan handled it the way he did instead of wasting an entire movie to get him past vengeance - like Reeves did with The Batman. After TDK, he can’t / doesn’t need to be Batman anymore so he’s basically just existing. Rachel has been killed (because he couldn’t stop it - that’s the way he sees it) and loyal to a fault, he’s tied to her ghost - believing she had chosen him over Harvey when she didn’t. I think Nolan chose Bane for the villain in Rises because he is widely known as being someone who did at some point succeed in breaking Batman. This is story structure 101 bringing him to the lowest low possible before he can rise. He falls all the way down in this last movie ( Act 3) before he learns the final lesson he needs to rise into a new state of being. After a life time of denying and controlling his fear, he learns he needs to embrace it. It makes him stronger not weaker. He should fear dying because his life is precious and valuable and the best way to honor his parents is to live it! Most importantly, he comes to realize that he actually deserves to live. This video is such an excellent edit because they show the part where Alfred confronts him right out loud that he believes Bruce has a death wish. Bruce does not dispute it - which is telling to anyone listening. Bruce: “You’re afraid if I go back out there I’ll fail”. Alfred: “No. I’m afraid you’ll want to.” Death wish. And it doesn’t start there in Rises. It starts back in Begins. This is why Bruce engaged in such risky behavior as Batman in the first place - from the very beginning. This is very much akin to Martin Riggs in the first Lethal Weapon. The entire movie he goes out of his way to risk his life because he doesn’t value it. He blames himself for his wife’s death. Lethal Weapon is right up front about Riggs’s being fine about dying and actually welcoming it until the end of the movie where he finds family in Roger. Nolan is much more subtle about the death wish until he gets to Rises - and then he puts it out there in plain sight - but it’s been there since Begins. So Rises is mostly about Bruce reconciling his past, realizing he doesn’t have to live his life to atone for his parents’ and Rachel’s and Harvey’s deaths, and finding the will to live his own life, guilt free, happy and fully away from the responsibility of the Wayne family legacy - which is why he lets everyone believe he died while he leaves Gotham with Selena…while leaving individual and person specific confirmation that he’s alive to his trusted circle. Rise is about how Bruce by his sheer strength of Will to act breaks free of being stuck and escapes his tragic past to start over again. This is the ONLY iteration of a fully realized character arc for the character of Batman live action and on the big screen. Nolan brothers are master story tellers and they definitely set the bar high. They secured the package and have it on lock - because now if anyone else shows Batman actually conquering his past and moving on - they will rightly be accused of copying Nolan and trying to rip him off. 😂😂 It’s just mastery of craft. Pure and simple.

I agree, a true criminal doesn't care about money, or power....
@fanelskejovic773 жыл бұрын
@@hi3174 I don´t quite agree with you on your view on what defines "a true criminal". Being a criminal means nothing more than living a life in which you break and ignore the punishable rules and laws of the society you live in. There a several reasons and motives for why criminals break the laws and find it morally and fairly convenient to do so. Some criminals do it for money, some for power, some to make a statement to the world, some because it´s the only way of life they understand and find themselves useful in. Therefor I don´t think you can define or describe "a true criminal". Criminals come in all sorts and shapes. The thing that they all have in common is that they all do some kind of damage (conscious and-or unconsciously) to both society and the people around them. Some felonies causes more trouble, some less. Either way, a criminal is a criminal. The only thing that separates one criminal from another, is the distance he or she is willing to go in order to achieve the goals and things they desire by breaking the laws and crossing the lines of what is right and just. As I said in my comment - it is true that some criminals share the same mindset as The Joker, but in the end, I think that only a hand few of criminals in todays mordern world really wishes to see the world burn. Most criminals you hear about (both past and present), whether is on the news or by seeing a Netlfix documentary, always share very common and typical motives and reasons for commting the crimes they do. I´ts usually about money, power, honour, politically fanaticism and so on. So in other words, there are criminals and internally disturbed people in this world that wishes nothing more than to see mankind and the world be burned alive, but I think that is ONLY VERY FEW individuals that has that inner desire as The Joker (or at least to the same degree as him). So instead of referring to him (Joker) as "a real criminal" like you did in your comment, I would rather describe him as an exceptionally "rare and unique" one and maybe a bit unrealistic. Batman is one of the very few superheroes to show that even a mere mortal can actually make a difference. That a mere mortal , a man can be...a legend. Frankly speaking , he is the reason why I read , why I workout , train my mind , body and spirit , challenge myself. The reason why when I am driving my car I fantasize about driving the Batmobile , when I am on my bike I feel that I am driving the Batpod. Why I fantasize...that I am the Batman. Forever. P.S. - Thanks for the likes and comments guys. I didn't know that there are so many like minded individuals who feel the same. But , of course , Batman is a beloved character. And yeah , though I want to be Batman , I don't want to share the same fate as Bruce. I'd rather that my parents grow old and live a long and happy life , rather than being killed in an alleyway. If that's certain , then I'd rather be Reed Richards , Mr Fantastic. But yes , I love Bruce/Batman forever.But yeah , once again , thanks anyway. Loads of love and peace. ♥️😇

Arguable the greatest character arc in cinematic history. Nolan and Bale's Batman has the kind of depth and character development that is so rare and wholesome it honestly feels life affirming. The most poignant lessons of conquering one's fear, accepting responsibility and fulfilling your purpose without the slightest bit of selfishness or entitlement even to the point where the people you seek to protect might hate you in the process and making ultimate sacrifices of yourself and your identity to save and protect the ones you love and care for. All of these by a person without any superpowers, a mere mortal, with only his sheer will to serve and protect the city his father built and his people. Nolan and Bale's Batman is the greatest movie superhero because he shows how you and me could be superheroes in our lives. He's innately one of us.
