I love how everyone has a different interpretation to what this song means. To me it is about someone deeply wounded by the world and in order to protect themselves they allow darkness to literally consume them. They become their worst self and lock away every bit of goodness deep inside to hide that which they view as weakness, since it hurts them. They have become their own demon with just a sliver of what they once were hidden away. I absolutely love this song.

This song reminds me of how we have let go of the people who meant so much to us because they wounded our hearts and keeping them in our lives means that the bleeding will continue. so we just became the dark of them just to make sure they're alive and well but from distance.

It must have been inside my head I've lost the hope that I have lived And now, at last, it comes to pass We sleep, we dream, we have no less Along the path we lost our way It's all a game that I must play And now the weak that fall return to ash, defeated after all Fade away to the wicked world we left And I become the dark of you Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you Let go, we know this kind of life We live, we breathe, we die They call me to the light, forever lost inside With every dream we find We feed, we burn, we lie The fall of humankind The everlasting light Fade away to the wicked world we left And I become the dark of you Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you Let go, we know this kind of life We live, we breathe, we die They call me to the light, forever lost inside With every dream we find We feed, we burn, we lie The fall of humankind The everlasting light Fade away to the wicked world we left And I become the dark of you Say a prayer for the wounded heart within as I become the dark of you save this selfish world (Let go) save this selfish world (Let go) save this selfish world (Let go) save this selfish world

After listening to the song a dozen times, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is about the pride of the strong becoming the evil, the selfish rulers of the world who give to the weak, the fallen, nothing but empty words (prayers). I believe the song is a call to action, for the righteous to not wait for a god or higher power to save the selfish world, but for the righteous strong to stand against the darkness that the prideful strong have become.

In my opinion as Breaking Benjamin has become a favorite of my top five this is one band really does not have a bad song I mean even Home with the metaphor to the Wizard of Oz song it's brilliant as well as Forget It, What Lies Beneath, Away - I jam these daily along with so many more favorites. They're just unbelievable I just love them and for me cover to cover every album is brilliant. Genius.

First listened to them in 2004 as a senior. Shared with the love of my life and they got hooked too. Over a decade later and they are releasing music to heal the wounds left by her absence. While the light may have gone from my world, I at least can take her dark, so that no matter what she is protected, shielded, loved... "we feed, we burn, we lie..."

"The fall of human kind" that's my favourite quote of the song. I'm not against humanity, I just think that most of the people who are living on our planet (about 70%) don't care about the next generation. Or maybe it's only the wealthy and politicans who care for themself. Who knows? Money rules the world, am I right? Well then maybe I was also right about the 70%.
@joeye.3656 жыл бұрын
TheCruelDead My ancestors used to live by a philosophy: Live, but also think 7 generations down the road. What world would be left for them? Most people don't think this way anymore all for the sake of the comfort of NOW. I think we are falling, just kinda slowly.

comfort what comfort exists? In this day and age, I have more fear of what fanatical groups will do and what governments will do all over the world. The collapse, you can see it coming soon. Sooner than we all want. This day and age outrank anything stated in history even the bible or any churches book really. Many people agree that in this day and age it's easily one of the worst periods in history. Just as much as the future to come will become even worse than it is now. It's that bad but it's covered up and hidden away from everyone because people fear it would bring the collapse sooner. No matter what we are doomed as a people it is our time to die.
@TheCruelDead6 жыл бұрын
Eara Soulous. I just hope it doesn't and in a nuclear war, but who can tell what happens when people like our politicans are in charge now. However, if it comes to the nuclear war, all the politicans and wealthy people will hide in there bunkers, while the rest of the human kind will die in a blink of an eye. Or suffer for years from the radiation. As you are saying, we are doomed... and our time of dying comes sooner or later.
