Lead character for EXP event you want to be your highest level character.

@@MisterTIBS Highest level character can have access to highest exp mobs, a portion of the exp goes to the 2 side characters. It is a very small % of the exp the lead character is making.

I do hate that part. Majority of events HAVE been newbie friendly to a certain extent. RoD does seem to have a fairly higher wall for newbies to get over.
