The first is written by Scott Horton (American journalist and writer, which you can also invite for a conversation) with the title: "Provoked: How Washington Started the New Cold War with Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine". The second is written by Tony Greenstein, with the title: "Zionism During the Holocaust: The weaponisation of memory in the service of state and nation", this book is a reference work on scholar level and summarizes the synergy between the National Socialist Nazi party in Germany and the at that time quite young political Zionist organization.

41:00 I hate to be a "climate change denier", but the Valencia floods had more to do with the flood control system above the valleys, which were in a total state of disrepair, brought about by the greens, who thought the dam constructions were a threat to some species of fish. Like Gaza, you have to probe deeper. and another myth, at no point has Israel has ever been a liberal democracy. The vast majority of Palestinians, even within Israel proper were only recently even given rights after martial law was lifted in 1966, and that only because they had been mostly ethnically cleansed into Gaza and West Bank, to reduce the risk of demographic threat.

A very interesting conversation. I think the guest took great pains to separate the “Israeli government” from the state of Israel itself. I noticed at least two occasions where he asserted his belief that Israel had the right to exist. A.nd yet he took issue with China claiming the territory of Tibet as its own, asserting that Tibet was never a part of China and to say that it was was ignoring the truth. Well, before 1948 Israel didn’t exist. The land belonged to the Palestinians who had lived there for generations going back at least 2500 years, before they were forcibly dispossessed and expelled, while the remaining enclaves of Palestinians have been undergoing constant immiseration under occupation. You really cannot overstate the magnitude of this injustice. So I think Norman Baker does his own share of ignoring the truth, by not acknowledging the forcible dispossession and subsequent immiseration of the Palestinian people by their colonisers.
