Vanilla is my favorite spice, and I use only "fair trade" vanilla when I cook. However, this documentary was gravely remise in not covering the direct link in Madagascar between vanilla farming and the extinction of native Malagasi animal and plant species. I try to source my vanilla purchases ethically, but that task is nearly impossible in light of the environmental devistation and communal violence which vanilla fuels in Madagascar.

Then buy it from it's home mexico. The French colonial powers grew it here only since 1880 as a cash crop for themselves. Like coffee in South America.

Get education into Africa or else crime will increase no use of showboating about stupid issues
