The "Con" in ConMan is short for Confidence. The best Con Men tend to be either very Good Looking, Charming, Tall, Dominant and or Charismatic. A great voice, great personality and great looks can work wonders for Con Men. Even meek and humble looking people can con you because they look harmless. Basically appearance and an air of legitamacy.

I thought I was above this, but I realised as a kid that I tended to try and talk to more attractive people. So I worked to undo that bias. Then when watching penguinz0 call out scams, I was confronted with the unpleasant realisation that I couldn’t actually tell from their tone that they were scammy. Maybe because I was only listening rather than watching the video, but it taught me that many times as long as the speaker is white with an American or British accent, my brain automatically elevates their words without actually judging their validity.

2:00 They learn to say the right things while doing the opposite behind the scenes. Most effective liars (as in they lure a bunch of ingenuous people in) mix convenient truths, fact omission and downright lies to sound more believable. They rarely just flat out lie to you, that would be too easy to discern. But if you look closely at the logical consistency it quickly falls apart. It is also worth mentioning that psychopathic people (even at low levels) tend to like more successful psychopaths.

Scammers need to have cluster b personality traits to be able to morally live with themselves. But having cluster b traits often goes in hand with what's called "superficial charm". So basically the people that fulfill these two requirements are able to run scams and also able to make them big enough to be noticed. The antagonistic ones won't succeed.

There's just so many of them. What's really crazy is when you get innumerable "lifestyle guru" types, and their whole schtick isn't dropshipping or forex or the usual suspects: They talk about legitimate things like starting blogs or marketing or whatever, they present themselves as being "Just like you" before they *worked hard* and found success away from the 9-to-5 grind. "It takes hard work and you gotta give it your all!" they say. They're gonna teach you SKILLS! ...How did they do it? Well, by starting an empty course full of promises! They'll talk about legitimate things but leave out anything actually useful or that could be considered "training." Then, they have legions of "students" who just start their own BS sales-funnels, and so on, and so forth. These days it feels like internet-marketing is basically con-artistry and psychopathic manipulation, and to sell people on it, they come up with all sorts of crazy rationale while trying to get you excited to con others...into getting excited to con others.

Those positive comments under the scammer video are always bots. You can see that it's always a real life name and family name. They are not real people! It's all made so that others can see "many real people" being positive about the scammer. It's all fake comments!

Lol aint that the truth man. Had a friend tell me he was going to pursue this “business opportunity” that had all the makings of a classic mlm. I sat him down and taught him how these pyramid schemes work and how you will almost always lose your money and never make any. He left completely convinced that he would never do it. A few days later, hes back telling me how he gave the beautiful recruiter a $1k to join her group AND his social security number 🤣🤦‍♂️ Needless to say, he never made a single cent and eventually had problems with his credit cards due to identity theft so had to change his SSN.

@@cookiemonsterzz8815 is it an mlm? What sales tactics does his company use? Does his company have large fees for signing up to be able to sell insurance and are there incentives for the newly signed up members to get their friends and family on board? Just stuff I was wondering about from reading reddit threads about his company

@@cookiemonsterzz8815 correction I meant does his company have incentives for the newly recruited sales team members to sign up their friends and family as insurance salespeople as well promising everyone great riches? Because if that is true, that sounds scammy
