I think this shows that when someone is considered "bad" and does ONE good thing they get sm praise, but when someone considered "good" does ONE bad thing, people attack them and think it's so shocking and that they are no longer "good"..

It’s also so similar to parenting. Mothers are always expected to do everything and once she needs a break she’s now a bad mom. But a dad can be the laziest garbage but does one thing with his kid they’re the most amazing father

I didn’t watch the whole video but am replying by only reading this comment. Because good and bad can’t be mixed up. Good is good, bad is bad. One light in total darkness stand out and brightens the area. Vice versa, one dark drop in a cup of clean water changes the color completely.

It’s just crazy that George couldn’t enjoy this week and slack off without people bashing him. His entire life has been struggle. Poor people DESERVE down time. Time to enjoy being alive. People are so weird

Problem is most people think poor people have nothing but downtime. Speaking from experience as a poor person, just because somebody is poor doesn't mean they don't have stress, or work hard, it's just we are in a less fortunate situation then others who have more money. I agree poor people deserve to enjoy life as much as anyone else

I used to know someone who went on this show. He was the privileged kid who went to live in the rural towns. The show portrayed him as an ungrateful kid who asks his parents for money so he can go out and drink with his friends, if they don’t give him the money he will throw an anger tantrum. After I found out he went on the show, I reached out to someone who we mutually know and she said he was never like that and that the whole show was staged.

The only "swap" show I like is The Return of Superman, where the mom takes like 2 days off away from the house, and the dad takes care of the house AND the kids. This show goes for quite a long episode and with 3-5 families in each episode, so it was like a "routine" maybe? Like the mom gets maybe 2-3 days off every week. I think it's a win-win show, the mom gets to rest and have fun, the dad gets to learn how to take care of the house and the kids, and the kid gets to have more bonding time with the dad.

1:00:53 Maybe that’s the psychological explanation for what you guys mentioned in the beginning. About people feeling good about seeing poverty. We spend so much time wanting to be someone or something better than what we already are. Comparing and degrading ourselves because we don’t have what someone else has, but when we take a look at how “bad it could get” it sobers us, grounds us back to reality. Like, “that could be you…” -“ thank God that ISN’T you” -“imagine if suddenly your life went from what you have now to that,” and also *“those people probably look at me and envy my life”* and maybe THATS what feels good.

ahhhhh i get such an odd melancholic joy whenever MMB talks about his grandma.........i know too well that growing up with an emotionally insecure parent/caregiver attachment is rough. the way steph immediately turned to dandan with the most genuine "are you okay 🥺" perfectly exhibits the kind of profound emotional safety pandaman has now, that it's easier to talk and even joke about those experiences with people who understand and love him as he deserves ;o; there's always family out there for us to find. every lonely kid deserves to see that and know that it does come true, as long as you look for it.

There is a term for this "fall from grace" or "rise up the ladder" type of character developments in people. I cant remember the term, but it essentially says that those who are deemed "good" will fall harder when they do 1 bad thing BECAUSE they are seen as good and that they cannot do wrong. It hits harder because the act is seen as something drastically different than their personality. Whereas a "bad" person doing 1 good deed, compared to their bad past, will seem like they have done something amazing in contrast. It's all about contrasts.

One show that is a bit of a positive spin on the whole "swapping places" genre is World's Strictest Parents. There's some episodes based in America with kids traveling to other parts of the country. But other times it sends kids from other countries to other countries/continents. There's one episode where an Australian teen boy is sent to Africa and it really seems like the host mom has made an impactful change in his life.

Stephanie you need to talk about the show Unreal! It’s a fictional story about what goes one behind the scenes of reality shows and it’s a lil crazy!!

You should do a baking a mystery on Never Let Me Go! It's a book. It's like a psychological thriller/horror and it was made into a movie in the 2000s. Very good and twisted. Perfect for a BAM

At 30:12 u asked about if this would be a good thing…. For me Yes! It did change me! I was 18 and went to El Salvador 🇸🇻 and was there for a month and a half. It completely changed me as a person and helped me be way more appreciative for everything I have and all of the little things! Truly I feel like it should be required for American kids to graduate to go to a third world country and experience it for a week at the minimum. But make it a requirement to graduate. That way kids can appreciate what we have here and just what you have personally also. It truly did so much for me and I could talk for days about stories of my trip. It was one of the best things to ever happen to me in my life! 💯

My 9th grade English teacher did a whole unit on maslows higherarchy… it’s all about meeting your own needs to be your best self. It’s like going to school starving or unshowered or with improper sleep, you can’t focus on school because you have other more important basic needs waiting to be met

⚠Stephanie, I have commented before on the dangers of black food. IDK what they seasoned it with but most people use activated charcoal to make it black. That is bad for people on any sort of medication. I can't remember if you are on any anti-anxiety medicine but it will stall their effects and any other medicine. Just a warning. ⚠
