This most likely going to mess with entry level positions. Maybe GPT-5 can get mid level, but who’s to say it will be economical or scalable enough to replace a significant number of engineers

yeah there have been technological innovation before. AI is different in the way that it doesent enhance people, it has the potential to straight up replace us.

If AI truly makes simpler tasks more efficient, then one thing to consider is that end uses too may end up becoming more complex & varied, requiring more resources ! i.e. More demand for SWEs than before, but in newer fields! Don't see why this is not a possibility. Like every automation tool in history, it may make some jobs redundant, but will create a bunch of more jobs in their place. But these token predictors are being unreasonably overhyped & oversold as if AGI is right around the corner. And the question behind it's unethical content scraping needs to be answered.
