You know that game show called "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" that was basically a trivia show about geography for kids in the 90s? I found out recently that the showrunners had to update the answers to its questions constantly when filming between seasons and also put disclaimers at the end of its episodes that the answers would probably be out of date by the time an episode aired. I mean one country became two during its run time, so there can't be a single bit of trivia in it that still applies today. Shit's wild to me, maps and globes must need an update constantly.

"Is it against religion to believe in aliens?" Not in Judaism, no. But when people say 'religion' they mean 'Christianity' and they're like 50/50 split on it. Gonna suck for them when first contact happens. It'll be pretty dope for me, though.
@strangerscience3659 Жыл бұрын
Hold up does the torah mention aliens in it or like how do Jewish people believe in aliens
@morganqorishchi81817 ай бұрын
@@strangerscience3659It's complicated. Functionally, there's two answers: 1. Basically, while the Torah describes life on Earth, it never says life doesn't exist on other planets. We also don't have demons, so the thing some Christians do where they refer to aliens as demons isn't a thing. So basically, in Judaism (and in some branches of Islam, too), aliens are just people like anybody else and it's silly to think that this is the only world with life on it when it never says that in the original text. The original text probably just focuses on Earth because that's the planet *we* live on and it wouldn't have been beneficial for ancient people to be told about other civilizations they weren't going to meet. 2. The Torah/Bible/Quran talks about Adam and Eve's children marrying other people in the land but doesn't explain who those people were. Some people take that to mean aliens. Some people think that means Neanderthals. It's a subject of some debate. Regardless, it sets precedence in all Abrahamic faiths of non-humans who are people, meaning believing in aliens is not much of a stretch. When you've already realized that 'person' can mean different species, aliens are just an extension of that. These two things combine into a pretty pro-alien attitude in Judaism. There's no proof they're not out there, but there is proof in the Torah that they would be/are people if they did/do exist.
@morganqorishchi81817 ай бұрын
@@strangerscience3659Jewish philosophy is that the Torah only describes Earth. That doesn't mean there aren't aliens or that they aren't people. A person is defined in Jewish doctrine as someone capable of intelligent thought. Also we don't have demons. So the whole Christian fundamentalist "aliens are demons" thing doesn't work. We're chill with aliens.
