You constantly remind me that I MUST re-test Sandor 70s. Thank you, Ryan.

It's so good. I might just wear it today, hot weather be damned.

Just blind bought Atman Xaman this week; wearing now and very happy with it! I get the reference to 1740, but like you said it’s a much cooler fragrance, as opposed to the warm buttery tones of 1740. It comes off a bit camphorous to my nose, reminding me a bit of Tauer’s Lonestar Memories. Also, of another Parfum d’Empire fragrance, Fougere Bengale, in that it also has a bit of that ‘spiced bread’.

Very nice...and kinds of terrific tobacco scents, as you mentioned, from barbershop freshies to those boozy, vanilla gourmands. Sadly, the 'dark tobacco' genre receives the least love and attention, but it's definitely one of my favorite perfume styles of all time. Just a few psychotic disjointed commends since I've watched your tobacco series, but I've been busy lately and probably didn't commend on them. First, I used to maintain fragrance wardrobe and keep track of my favorite in-genre scents, but I haven't maintained it in years. Regardless, here are some of my overall favorites in no particular order (try them if you haven't already): *Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille (most powerful gourmand), *By Killians Back to Black (Sexy/Seductive), *L`Antichambre Le Tabac, *Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque (discontinued), *Creed Tabarome (stellar tobacco/ginger - ginger/tobacco scent), *Thierry Mugler Pure Havane, *Dolce & Gabbana The One (Sexy/Date Scent but soft), *CK One Shock (excellent and cheap too), *Lanvin Avant Garde (excellent and cheap too - long discontinued), *Versage Dreamer (vintage bottle...stuff after 2012 sucks), *Parfums de-Marly Herod, *Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (made in Italy version), *Michael Kors Michael for Men (discontinued...tobacco with ripe dried fruits -Michael Kors for Men is not the same scent), *Maxim's de Paris Pour Homme, *Serge Lutens Chergui (reference standard hay-tobacco...stains shirts too), *Aramis Havana, *Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme (this is one of my designer 'Light/Fresh Leather scents" - not sure if it's still available or whether it has been reformulated, *Tom Ford Men, *M.Micallef Avant Garde, *Burberry London, *John Varvatos Vintage, *Versace Man, *Carolina Herrera CH Men (*original 2010-2012 vintage - gorgeous leather and sugar cane), *Kerosene Broken Theories (this is my favorite from Kerosene - dark leather with gourmand tones), *Oriflame Architect, *18.21 Man Made Sweet Tobacco, *Mancera Red Tobacco (Woody Spicy), *Aramis Tobacco Reserve Cheers!

Right on Ryan! Incidentally, the same day my decant of Bois Sikar dried up. 😄 Cypriol heavy that one.

you forgot the best tobacco perfume - Étui Noir (Miller Harris) 😊

It doesn't list a tobacco note so it's never been on my radar for this genre! What would you compare it to?

Love this category! Speaking of horsey tobaccos, you’ve gotta try Parfum d’Empire Tabac Tabou. It’s sooo good! It smells straight up like damp, dank horse stable full of wet hay, oats, manure and soil on a cool, gray morning. Yet it also has real warmth to it. I absolutely love it.
