First of all, I want to thank everyone for the outstanding support and patience, both in waiting for this video to release, and then, in waiting for the issues to be resolved. For those that don't know, After uploading several tests and checking every segment (All of which are STILL showing as advertiser friendly on my end) I uploaded the full thing and after several hours, the video was demonetised, with my appeal, my outreach on twitter and various emails all being ignored. So I've had to make some changes and reupload, I spent nearly 6 months working on this video, so I hope you all understand the need for ads to run, regardless, I hope you enjoy and I HOPE there are no more issues, much love.

always hated how in D2 the darkness just SCREAMS all its lines, I missed how in the first game it just talked, whispered or purred aside from when it got truly mad and then it screamed or spoke with such vicious spite you could feel it, like you could feel the hatred within this creature. D2 really lost that magnificence

I just realized if the darkness only shows itself on their 21st birthday. The day Anthony Estacado saw his whole squad die due to mortar fire then tried to kill himself just to be stopped by the darkness all happened on his birthday.

Playing The Darkness II was awesome, I think it was a free game on humble bundle for awhile and honestly, if I could, I would go back and pay for it. It's a short but solid story!

darkness 2 was my first platinum on PS3, which my father gave me by mistake because he wanted to give me darksiders and that was a fantastic mistake, I loved and still love the darkess 2 so much that I recently bought it again on steam and enjoyed it as if it was the first time. today in 2024 I'm still waiting for a third chapter or maybe a reboot would be a dream

One of the first real games i got into stan wise(as in one of the first games i became a huge fan of) was The Darkness 2. It encapsulated an era of gaming that we offen times look at with either great disdain or a nostalgic love. When I was a kid it was one of those games you knew mom wouldn’t get for you. I played it once if I’m not mistaken. And it was amazing.

I got to meet Marc last year at fanexpo and was able to geek out about the darkness video games and have him sign some comics for me as well. He was super nice and it’s definitely one of my favorite if not my favorite convention experience. 2:43:30 in the first game, you can unlock some concept art that shows the angelus and some of the ideas they were bouncing around, but it seems like that angle was cut from the story early on. if memory serves, I think the devs mentioned the cut was due to them going for a gritty, grounded story with less focus on the more fantasy-oriented elements from the comics

Hey, thanks! I needed this video. Not only because it talks about one of my favorite game/games ever, but also because it talks about it as much and as well as I would have talked about. The first game was really amazing for me, I remember playing it on my xbox in my parent's house all alone in the evening while cold winter winds would blow outside. I woulld play it noin stop until it got dark outside and I felt cradled by the atmosphere of the game. While the game was not perfect, it was really immersive and the story would make you feel lost and vengeful. Sadly nobody else I knew did or liked it, when the second one came out I was really happy and while it never felt like a perfect sequel (since there were many changes from the 1st to 2nd) I was really glad I got to play it. So thank you again for bringing me back to much simpler times of not wanting to do homework and instead play videogame while also bringing light to this "hidden" gem. Fingers crossed someone will eventually make a reboot/sequel, who knows.

Touching on the idea of preferences between the two games, the two different voice actors for Jackie is another great example. Brian Bloom is super talented but Kirk Acevedo Italian American accent is more believable and more natural. All comes to down to taste.

I agree with you regarding how the first game was more focused on the darkness itself, that was lost in the sequel, but I think the sequel leaned more on the story around the darkness and world around it and that is why they left it on the side. I don't know if it was on purpose or they just didn't care, but that is how I see it.

Also if you don’t kill Paulie when he’s crawling away at the end of the first game, he’ll slowly crawl over to that bench cause his gun fell under it and he’ll still try to shoot you even if you try to give him mercy lol.

It seems that, in the first game, at least, no one really acknowledges the darkness. People run scared from Jackie, but they would've probably done that if any guy butchered their way through their ranks like that. There's a very thin layer of ambiguity as to the exact visibility of the darkness. I like that, because it allows the player to theorize if the darkness is more metaphorical than literal. Since, it at least represents an inner, "dark" side of Jackie himself. I don't know if it can be fully seen as an "all in his head" thing though, since some of the things he does are quite impossible.

I remember how much I loved playing the Darkness. I knew of Witchblade but I didn't know they were connected because I never read the comics, I only knew she had a cool arm. I know how the story of Jackie Estacado ends in the comics now and I have to say, his life was nothing else that misery, sadness and bad choices. I was in my teens when I played the second game and I can't hide the fact that I cried when I learned there won't be a sequel. I couldn't cope with the fact that, like several games in the past, this gem of a world wouldn't be continued in media. It's just...so unfair. So unfair.
