Star Wars: Republic Commando is a tactical first-person shooter video game developed and published by LucasArts. It was released for the Xbox and Microsoft Windows in March 2005.[3] Set in the Star Wars Legends expanded universe, the game revolves around Delta Squad, a special ops unit within the Galactic Republic's Clone Army consisting of four genetically-enhanced clone troopers, referred to as "Clone Commandos."

Played this game on the original Xbox while I was a kid and dude it blew me away at the time it was so fun and quite atmospheric, especially at certain points of the game. Wish we could get a sequel of this or a reboot but that's probably unlikely :(.

Would it be out of line to say this game was very "Halo-y"? Or even FEAR, which came out slightly afterwards but seems to have many similarities. This was a great retrospective on a game I missed completely as a kid. It feels like a product of its time in a positive and nostalgic way. (despite never playing it, I feel like I played it)

I've heard apparently they were planning a sequel called imperial commando where 38, fixer and scorch had joined the empire continuing what they do and catch wind that sev is still alive and is acting as a trainer for the rebels as he missed order 66. Which sounds cool but got the disney axe along with 1313 which makes me mad

I agree, I get what cliffhangers are supposed to do, but it would be nice for a video game to have its own conclusion. Having only played Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga lol, I really enjoyed/learned a lot from your video. Makes me want to look into the others.

Star Wars isn't my forte. I never watched a single movie of it except Clone Wars. However, I still enjoyed how well-written your video essay was. Smooth editing and the bits of humor are appreciated. Not all video essays need to be SUPER-HYPER-OMEGALUL unless that is your target audience. It's clear that you enjoyed doing this. I'd say keep working on more of these. You even made me consider checking the game out.

@@TheColeBrew I think I remember an interview where the idea behind it was the gun used the needles to suck the blood out the geonosian warrior and turned it into some sort of plasma beam. As it can’t pierce the clone armour you only have the “ammo” pool already in the gun.

I will say, though. It's inherently cringe that you turned off the HUD in favor of the generic/lame one, especially since Star Wars: Republic Commando has one of the coolest and most immersive HUDs. BUT, I'm glad you turned it back on. Seriously, it's one of the coolest HUDs. Side note: You were talking about how it didn't work on Steam, yet all you could have done was boot up your Original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X (assuming you have one of those) and purchase an Original Xbox copy of the game (they're relatively inexpensive, btw). Not trying to nitpick here, just letting you know. Great video overall.

I turned off the hud to see what it was like. I played the whole game with it on. Didn’t have a copy on the Xbox but yea it would’ve worked that way.

Yessss let's go what a great video! Definitely agree that media should stand on its own, it's why Warcraft lore never grabbed me in the end. Too many side books to complement the game's story. 🥲
