Wow, this made me cry too! l remember when the coach cut one more from the team and it was you! l walked into your room and you were curled up in a ball! l was so mad, l stormed down to the school and found the coach! l asked him why he would do that and that you were curled up in a ball on your bed! You had practiced every day during the summer at 5 a.m.! l told him l didn't even consider him to be part of the human race to do something like that! l wanted to get up a group of people and get him kicked out of the school! But you amazed me Davey when you said "Mom, please don't kick him out! l am going to try again next year to make the team, l don't hate him" ! l was so impressed with you and l promised to leave him alone and let you try again for the next year. One thing you forgot to say was at the year end basket ball banquet, the coach gave you the best award, he gave you the coaches award! l went up to the coach after and we were both speechless and we both had tears in our eyes. We shook hands and nodded our heads and without words being spoken we both said it all! lt was so awesome to present you with your letter-mans jacket at the end of that game! We never knew you would slam dunk the ball and that the crowd would chant your name and the jacket was like the icing on the cake from you accomplishing this awesome goal, so proud of you and so impressed with you not wanting me to get rid of the coach! :) Love you and keep up all of your good works you are doing!

Awwww, Rosanne, this is such a touching, super deep on so many levels and deeply moved, too. If Davey is a 1980 baby, then I have one that year, too. Two weeks passed due date exactly: July 24th! Hehehe. I definitely trekked a very, very long pioneer day that Pioneer Day!! 48 hours!! She's forty next July, my eldest. Davey, you are a good man!!

Wow what a GREAT story!! I just got my 10 year old son signed up for basketball for the first time, it’s something he’s so passionate about, too. As a mom I can only imagine how much your mama struggled for you during all of this. Our first instinct is to fight our kids battles and it’s hard to realize we need to step back and let our babies fight for themselves. I’m sure you made your mama so proud and taught her some lessons along the way, too ❤️

Davey I know what it is like to live through a dark time I did it as well and made it through because I wouldn't give up I am a fighter and don't give up easily. Your story made me very emotional for you and for me as I was forced to relive mine hearing your story sometimes it is good to do that to remind you of who you are and where you came from. I am so glad you pushed through and followed your dreams good for you, You are a good person and you deserved to be on that team and you showed them what you were able to do!!
