Lyrics
Dressed up in the emperor's old clothes
And they're pulling at a thread
Naked with your empty heart exposed
You will wish that you were dead
You fooled us all
More buck less bang
When the verdict is returned
You will surely hang
Rock and roll your time has finally come
I am afraid you must die
Rock and roll your time has finally come
Now I'm afraid you must die
Rock and roll deserves to die
Rock and roll deserves to die
All of us have built a house of cards
In the eye of a storm
Charlatans all tattoos and no scars
Nothing real to perform
You will lose your head
When judgement is passed
Tied your colours
To a sinking galleon's mast
Rock and roll your time has finally come
I am afraid you must die
Rock and roll your time has finally come
Now I'm afraid you must die
Deserves to die
Rock and roll deserves to die
Deserves to die
Rock and roll deserves to die

When people talk about the most underrated band of all time, this is it. The Darkness. Released amazing song after amazing song and get no credit for it. Only known for "A Thing Called Love" (which still jams hard) but these dudes are like rock and roll wizards. Deserve way more credit

I'm young enough to have just discovered rock n' roll. Something already dead doesn't deserve dying. I don't mean the sad emotional rock from mainstream 80's/90's forward. More like B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and others, rock and blues but made epic. Hooked and still hope for more RnR artists to pop up.

Been watching Justin’s KZbin channel and he gives great takes on thing’s around music… finally checked out some music other than the old radio play songs 😅. He has grown as a person and a musician - he is pretty down to earth at this point. This song and the video hit so many marks - the humour is the icing on the cake. Great work boy’s! Honestly this wins on so many levels. The music is just brilliant, lulls you in to a sense of calm, and then blows your mind with the chorus. Plus the video. For goodness sake, pure brilliance, and let's not forget the glorious ending of the video which does for Justin's bum what the song and video have done for the band. Keep rockin' the multiverse, chaps.

CRIMINALLY underrated rock band! Only started seriously listening to them and watching their video clips recently! SO funny too! They take all their vids in a tongue in cheek, camp, fantasy sci-fi way! I have not found 1, vid yet that I haven't gotten a chuckle from! A serious band that does NOT take themselves seriously! Refreshing! Great musos, and Justin is a seriously underrated singer! Damn he's good! WHAT a range! The whole band has got the best bits of Queen, KISS, SLADE, Humble Pie, Bon Jovi & AC/DC all thrown in! This number has a very QUEEN sounding harmony line! (Understandably seeing Roger Taylor's son Rufus is now their drummer! Real CHIP off the old block!) And FUNNY how Juz always will find any excuse to GET his kit off in front of the cameras! Funny AS! Rock on Darkness! \m/

@@alanwakeish I do, it's just I NEVER saw them much in the mainstream & kinda ignored them for many years! ALL I ever heard or saw about them was that they were the Brit version of Bon Jovi, so kinda went under my radar! I was aware of them from the beginning, but didn't really know WHAT they were about! It also seems 12 other people agree with me!

I was born in 72 and thanks to The Darkness and very few other bands Rock and Roll has not died. This is a long way from Permission to Land and I loved that album. Now they sound like AC/DC and Queen got together with Led Zepplin with the individual flavor of The Darkness. "Shine on you crazy diamonds!"

Hilarious. I love it. Great to see them back again. I remember being in college/university in 2003 and dancing to their song called "I believe in a thing called love" in the student bar. That song is a big part of my college memories. Now when I look at your new songs I just love your sense of fun and wittiness. Thanks for the great music :)

The Vocal performances are so freakin amazing, and awesome guitar riffs too. Hats off to the Darkness!!!! I’m 45, work at a music studio, recording and teaching music for a living. Justin's backside, starring in music videos since 2002! Hard to believe I was just 16 when I became a fan...I remember playing them for the first time and being elated they played solos on their guitars and actually sang (if you all recall the music scene then, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit were "rock music").
