@thedativecase97332 жыл бұрын
We were all told this as kids - I grew up in Manchester UK and it was the same. One guy once stopped his car and spoke to me and a couple of friends and asked me - not the others- if I'd like a ride in his car. I said "No you might be a child molester for all I know!" I was six - I had no idea what child molesting involved just that mum told me not to go anywhere with a stranger. Anyway he drove off pretty quickly, so I was probably on the mark. This was the time when the Moors murderers were abducting, torturing and killing children around the north west of England.

He should never have been released after the first horrific attack, obviously. When people say very trusting THEY REALLY MEAN DUMB
@leslie164503 жыл бұрын
@Panta Rie 83 One would naturally think victims must be stupid; we think we’re smarter, so we’re not at risk - a comforting delusion. I narrowly escaped him and can say that like Bundy and the worst serial killers he’s extremely cunning and intelligent and hides his demon under an innocent charm so convincing almost no one can see or even sense it. These men wouldn’t be so ‘successful’ unless they could fool family, employers and even law enforcement. Only when they have a victim securely isolated dare they rip off the mask and gleefully enjoy another human being’s terror and pain, killing to continue the charade. They start with animals, so we need to teach children early to empathize and respect their consciousness and feelings even as we hunt or discipline them. Only parents can head off that chain of experimenting and enjoyment of power over a weaker being that helps turn humans into monsters. Watch and get a child help if you see any lack of empathy toward another living creature. Or pretend it’ll pass then try avoiding all the reporters on your lawn.

Either some locals connected him to prior murders or his face was seen as Wanted in a local post office because after he charmed me up there someone found my friend, pointed to the place and told her I’d been taken by a ‘serial killer.’ Haunted forever by that sicko tho he’d only just started to menace me. What about you?
@leslie164503 жыл бұрын
@monique hoyt I watched the show - so sorry for your horrible ordeal. Good instincts saved u. Mine a total lucky escape, I thought no cause to call police since he’d only invited me to wait for my tardy friend in an apartment overlooking our boardwalk rendezvous. Sixteen and trusting I went; inside just a dark back alley studio. His face and persona changed into something out of a nightmare and he started madly tearing through the kitchen drawers so I knew I had seconds left, not enough to reach the door. Then frantic pounding by my pal who’d been warned and led there by a Good Samaritan (angel?); she crouched halfway down the stairwell lying about more people waiting for us outside. RA slowly came back to earth and let me walk out. I can’t forget his face, cold and dead but furious. Later I told myself just ‘paranoia’ but now I feel bad knowing he was a fugitive and went on to more crimes, like yours... Didn’t see his picture and connect it until over decade later. I don’t know how u went on with your life after getting such a dose of him.

In the sixties and early seventies hitching a ride was common place but often I reflected on the what if's years later. Having gotten into cars in very dark places, freezing cold, wee hours of the morning, out on the interstates it was never a concern of mine getting into a car with a hippie, a homosexual, someone A-wol from the Army or a group of blacks passing a brown bag around and me refusing to sip. What concerned me most was a family with children in the car accepting and exposing their family to a total stranger just to give them a ride to somewhere, anywhere, perhaps the next exit or closest bus station. Who were these people? could they be a family of cannibals will I be fed to the children as tasty scraps, no more than a leftover to them on a dark desert night. Should I perhaps not enter the car and just skelter off into the tumble weeds and underbrush or take my chances with fate?
