What a treat! A personal (virtual guided tour) by TAYM himself. A stunning collection. I’ve owned 4 Hondas over the years and loved all of em. I know exactly what triggered my interest in Motorbikes, it was a teacher at our school (Mr Savage) who had a yellow Honda CB750 and I was smitten with it, what’s incredible is he had it stolen and whilst I was walking home with my mom, I’d have been about 12 at the time, I saw someone riding his bike (I knew the reg number). When I went to school the next day I told him where I’d seen it and he went out on his lunch break and found it in the area where I’d told him I’d seen it the night before Ironically he later gave me the cane for throwing stones at greenhouses in the houses behind our school. Wonderful 😁

Wow TAYM - marvellous piece to camera. Mrs TAYM as camera man Brilliant! What a fantastic collection too ❤️. My journey in motorcycling also started with a Honda C50 field bike. Aged 15, I learned so much about how to handle a bike on one of those. I also learned how painful a front wheel landing is 😂 An SS50 followed that of course - and the journey continued 😊 My Suzuki AP50 was a significant "upgrade" though and did about 50mph

That was incredible! My Dad owned a 1977 Honda 750 Four Super Sport. I really wish that I had that bike. It went so fast that it scared him one day and he never rode it again. we did pick two guys up one night when I was young and one of them had hit a guardrail at 80 mph. He was a mess. That cemented my Dad's fears I guess. He sold the 750 with something like 500 miles on it. wouldn't let me have it. and then I went on to ride for decades. Sometimes you gotta rebel. lol I'll be looking forward to your look at the CL! TAYM Jr, excellent job with camera again! Great mutter TAYM and well done the camera person. The first 400 four and those curvy down pipes they were just WOW. Did you say you'd never heard of the Honda 450? A.K.A. 'The Black Bomber' At the time 1965 it was the largest capacity bike that Honda brought into the UK. Torsion bar valve springs I believe. It sounded the death knell of the UK industry a good bit before the arrival of the 750 fours. Looks like David Silver's is well worth a visit.

Hi Mr. TAYM, What a fabulous collection. This video provokes so many memories of the bikes I wanted as young lad and teenager. My favourites among these are the Dreams and Super Dreams, the Benlys and SS50. Ok Fizzie's and AP50's where more popular but this little 4 stroke always looked more robust to me, but the XL400 / 500's interested me the most, with that big lazy, thumping single. But, to be fair, the 500cc and less bikes just have more about them. So much character across one manufacturer. All the bikes are so easily identifiable as you demonstrated. I'm hoping to visit this collection in September. Thanks once again for this video and your regular mutters. Glyn M

What a great vid. Have cx500 for 23 years, so know of DavidSilver & have spent a few bob with them over the years. Knew about the museum too & really must get down to visit. I had a yellow 400/4f2, identical to theirs, late 70’s/ early 80’s. Loved it. I believe a number of the bikes you couldn’t recall were not UK models. Some of the others like the Hondamatics were very short lived models around the 78/79 years. 👍

Thanks MJ 😁 that explains it 😁 was there a different nighthawk too, I seem to recall it looking different, more sort of custom 🤔

What a wonderful trip down memory lane! I’ve relied on David Silver’s Spares here in the US to help finish projects and I have nothing but great things to say about them. I did have a chance to test ride a Hondamatic 750 back in the day and i actually don’t remember any issues except the price was very high. I don’t think they sold very many. My brother had a Hondamatic 400 that I maintained. it was a semi-automatic where you could shift as normal or let it do it’s thing . It was actually quite peppy. Thanks for showing us the collection it was great.

Thanks JW 😁 interesting 🤔 I wondered what would happen if you had a sticky carb 😁 things like that 😊 now you mention the 400 I remember that😁 it sounds like a sort of primitive quick shifter. Brilliant 😊

The one on 3:13 looks very similar to the old MZ Trophy 175/250.. The NR 750 at the start is with oval pistons, injected V4 and 8 valves per cylinder and gear driven cam shafts. There is nothing like it .. Later VFRs retain the gear driven cam shafts.

I had a cbr 1000f hyper sport in the same colours as that one. Great reliable fast bike even now and wouldn’t mind another. The bike is the only one I ever become completely one with. Only downfall was it ate chain and sprockets but I was an angry youngster with a death wish. How I got to 58 I don’t know! Wouldn’t. Change a thing Mr T🏴

What a place Mr Taym, had a few Hondas over the years the first was the CB250 Dream loved the looks thought it was better looking than the next Super Dream version but it wasn’t the best riding bike, moved on to the 400 super dream after passing my test. Scariest Honda was a CX500 Turbo, loved that but realised after it was just because of the kudos of the turbo. Best bike was an RVF 400 not particularly fast but could ride it fast because of the handling, superb on tight country roads. My brother had an SS50 at 16 but was knocked off by a truck and pretty seriously injured, unfortunately even though my dad was a big biker all his life couldn’t mention bikes after that when mum was around, and had to visit them in the car and hide the bikes away if she came to visit.

Yes, as I say I always had a hankering for a dream but just could for the ribbing I would have got from my blue smoking mates😂😂😂😂 still, I would have one now😊 unfortunately I did have a few mates that had bad ones and others who never made it 😔 both cars and bikes were getting quicker but brakes and handling wasn’t. Even worse, hgvs were getting bigger. Dangerous times. Thanks SW 😊

@@TAYM totally unrelated and sure you’ve got better things to do than read my ramblings but bit like the dream sold my RD for this pretty heavy slow bike because of the looks really but did the same with helmets. Had a Bell helmet but saw the Griffin advertised in all the mags and just wanted one thought it’d make my life complete. Couldn’t afford one but my older brother helped out, unfortunately although it was better didn’t quite fulfil its promise to change my life, oh to be young again.

Great clips of era`s of motorbiking that we`ll never see again in this country. Brought back some fantastic memories of days out at Mallory or Oulton, Trans-Atlantic trophies, and of course Mick Grant, Barry Sheen and the rest. Those bikes were just in fantastic condition, proper bikes, I would have loved a "go" on quite a few I`d owned over the years. My absolute favourite was a 750cc k6, at the middle of the seventies, those 4into4 pipes, bloody marvellous, saw 120 on the clock (not my bike officer) so about right, good in a straight line, needed stronger brakes, though. Interesting content Mr.Taym, looking forward to more of these, good little series you could have here, I`m hooked, well done you and Taym junior, good job!
