Love that y’all share the realities of this lifestyle! The highs, lows, and all of the work that it takes to be able to do it all!

Thanks y’all! It’s definitely a goal for us to portray as much as possible the realities - hard to convey everything on KZbin but we try!

Don't forget when you calculate your rode to include the distance from the water to the bow. So if you're in 6' of water and it's 5' from the water to the bow, then you need to multiply that 11' times whatever scope you want, ex 66' for 6:1 scope.

Thanks for the advice! We definitely weren’t doing that’d at the time, but are doing it now!

I was going to say the same thing. Also, don’t back down to hard or fast at first. Let the anchor start to dig in a bit and increase slowly

Love that you had such a better day after such a hard day before! Love seeing the highs and the lows of boat life! Love y'all 🥰💛

Seriously can’t just show the highs… where’s the fun in that?? 😄

You need to put you boat and back up with a few higher RPMs to set at anchor. I also do not see a snubber line to hold the chain overnight. The full load of the boat is being pulled through your windless, it has a clutch that is designed to slip. The Snubber rode will dampen the pull and be quieter overnight. Gold Looper 2019

Thanks for the advice! One piece we didn’t show is we do have a Sampson post (sp?) and we use line and hook to protect our windlass from any load. We will definitely use more RPMs in the future and we completely revamped our anchoring procedures and equipment - all coming in a future video but on of the parts I’m most excited about is the bridal. Thanks so much for your advice!

Maybe some other loopers can chime in on this question: When setting anchor in a not so desirable spot, do people set anchor watches? So for a couple, maybe one sleeps for a 3 hours while the other one keeps an eye on things?
@SchoandJo4 ай бұрын
It’s pretty situationally dependent but I’d say that normally you are in desirable spots so a watch isn’t necessary. We probably only had a handful of nights out of a few hundred that we needed to watch our anchor.
