The Dawoodi Bohra community participated in a Celebratory Procession in Surat, Gujarat | Nov 2022

On the eve of the 112th birth anniversary of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin and 79th birthday of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Dawoodi Bohra members from all part of the world gathered in Surat, Gujarat, (India) on 13th November 2022 to participate in a celebratory procession at Zampa Bazaar neighbourhood where the community has resided for centuries.
The procession commenced after the evening prayers from the community sports ground Khaimat al-Riyada and made its way to Devdi Mubarak. The head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin observed the theme-based procession from a stage built on the Devdi Mubarak, a lane of historical significance for the community where His Holiness’ ancestral residence and the community’s centuries-old Arabic Academy known as Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah.
The processions included intricately decorated, themed floats and banners, as well as cultural displays prepared by Dawoodi Bohras from different countries. These floats were interspersed with marching bands playing joyful tunes and melodies.
