The Dawoodi Bohras of Houston - serving the victims of Hurricane Harvey

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit South Texas very hard. The George Brown Convention Center over-flowed with thousands of evacuees who needed meals. In every Bohra Community around the world, there are large communal kitchens that prepare meals for every Dawoodi Bohra family. Every day, the kitchen in Houston produces 2,000 meals. So when the Hurricane struck, they were one of the few kitchens equipped, staffed and ready to go. Dawoodi Bohra men, women and children baked, cooked, packaged and delivered 10,000 hot meals to fellow Houstians. The Dawoodi Bohras of Houston - a small community with a big impact - believe in helping people, particularly those less fortunate than themselves.
