I have never seen Efren perform a jump shot. What is the reason behind it? Not necessary?

In the past, there are no jump cues allowed in the 1980's 1990's, and players always use the cushion or multiple cushion to escape a safety or in a defensive against an opponent. This is what you call a kick shot, more thinking will be involved. Efren is a master kicker, so instead of playing the jump he uses his knowlege on the rails to kick balls.
