The Day after the War in Gaza: A Palestinian State?

On February 21, the Knesset voted overwhelmingly to back Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration of opposition to any “unilateral” recognition of a Palestinian state. But press reports based on interviews with senior American officials suggest that the Biden administration might recognize an independent Palestine once the war in Gaza ends. Doing so before reaching a comprehensive deal between the Palestinians and the Israelis would mark a dramatic shift in Washington’s position.
Join Hudson for a conversation with Senior Fellow Michael Doran, Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) Director Dan Diker, and JCPA Senior Project Manager Yossi Kuperwasser on what this policy shift could mean in the region and beyond.

Presidents Clinton and Obama were both staunch supporters of a Palestinian State, much to the consternation of Netanyahu. I believe it a legacy passed to President Biden, which includes appeasement toward Iran in exchange false promise of ending proxy aggressions and weapons-grade nuclear enrichment. I'm not saying that the Two-State policy is right or wrong, though in terms of debate, stronger support toward the latter remain historically demonstrable.

Cant say that Israel with its settler policy is not feeding the fire.

@@vaultsjan You mean the "settler policy" in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon and Beer Sheba? Because the Palestinians are willing to burn down the world over Jews having rights in all parts "from the river to the sea".

The world supports a Palestinian state any rationale individual supports a Palestinian state. What's the alternative? A continuation of occupation and oppression? A lack of liberty and freedom for Palestinians? Ethnic cleansing? What?

Gaza and West Bank become Israel-controlled territories, much like Puerto Rico with regard to the US.

The idea is for the Palestinians to vacate the areas west of the Jordan and leave the Israelis to live their lives in peace. Where they go and what happens to them isn't an Israeli concern. The Israelis aren't responsible for the Palestinians in any way, only for making sure that they never ever attack any Jews again. The sooner the Palestinians leave the better off everyone will be, including the Palestinians, who can build new lives in other places.

@@mikeincalifornia This is what Jews who were forced to leave Libya, Yemen, Algeria, etc did. They left those countries and moved to Israel and were better off.

@@mikeincalifornia why would the Palestinians vacate their homes and their peace so that Israelis can live in peace? What kind of warped up reasoning is this? Sense of entitlement because a god said so? Jeez forget that Palestinians are at home and won't go anywhere. Palestinians don't care where Israelis go or what happens to them as long as they keep off their lands!

@@canopeaz then why don't they keep to their israel? Isn't it enough for them?
