I can't believe this was 4 years ago. Time flies so fast. He has gotten a lot stronger physically and also improved on his game a lot but sadly regress mentally until his recent resurgence. He already had all the tools to win and yet it was another Next Gen(Medvedev) who has many flaws in his game(at the time) that burst onto the scene with his ice cold veins and grind his way into the Top 2.

Oh, how wonderful to see a full crowd. Sorry Sascha, I know this is supposed to be about your arrival on the grand stage but I got goose bumps just thinking about how we took "freedom" for granted. This was before Sascha developed his tic, as in lifting the hem of his shirt before making or receiving a serve.

well I guess we (the fans) will never be sure since his ex girlfriend decided not to press charges against him. Therefore there will be no court case to potentially clear things up... But the decision of his other ex girlfriend (Brenda Patea) to not let him have custody of the child says a lot. Very sad but after all that: innocent until proven guilty i guess. Even if thats not preferable in this situation.

@@hartitv1973 Brenda doesn't want to share the custody only for practical motivations, because she doesn't want her baby far from her for a long time (Sascha travels around the world most of the year so the baby would travel too), she said she doesn't want to leave Berlin for too long and that Sascha was a very careful boyfriend, they broke up only because she understood she didn't want to sacrifice her life following him here and there (not all the women have Mirka's devotion to the cause)! Also she said she wants Sascha to be involved in little Mayla's growing. Sascha went to Berlin right after Montecarlo, he spent time with Brenda and his daughter and presumably legally gave his surname to the baby. He's keeping his private things now far from the spotlight, that's why people think he doesn't care of his daughter or the allegations.. He learnt the lesson, the less you expose your private life, the better...

Quite a surprising result given Djokovic was playing really well before the final. Statistically, it was probably his very best Rome tournament... up until Zverev beat him. Same thing happened at the ATP Finals in 2018. In my opinion, Zverev has never reached that level since 2018.

I really like Zverev despite his struggles and i constantly have to remind MYSELF that this young fella ist just 22 and has so much more growth in him. Give him another GS Final and some more wins like last week over Rafa and he will gain back his confidence. When he is in the zone i see him lifting his level on 2011 Djokovic times (dominance-wise).

This win is worthless, same with Montréal's final against an injured Federer. You can't count the wins against the Big 3 as a big shock when they are in their worst form (Nadal 2014-16, Federer 2008/2013/2016, Đoković 2017-18).

I agree. A win against the "Big 3" does only count if the oponent is in great form, if he's healthy, if he does not play bad, if there is an audience, if his hair is in shape, if he brushed his teeth and if there's absolutely no wind. The court has to be perfect too. If anything of this is not the case the win should not count. It's just not fair.
