@roger james hunter White privilege does not mean or imply that whites do not have the same basic needs and desires as black people, nor that they do not have any struggles. What it does mean, sir, is that simply by virtue of having white skin whites do not have to worry about being targeted or discriminated against for their skin color alone on the scale that black Americans do. Many blacks in America do not have equal access as most whites to, well, pretty much everything: health care, education, jobs, grocery stores, etc. Perhaps even more alarming, many black folks have legitmate concern that every time their teenage son drives his car, particularly after dark, that he could be pulled over and shot or targeted by racist people while pumping gas and an "I'ma teach this boy a lesson" turns into him lying in the hospital. A black father explaining to his young daughter that she is BEAUTIFUL, not "beautiful for a black girl," when she asks what that means. These are just a couple illustrations of what is meant by white privilege. Cheers & be well.

I dated a white woman a few months ago. As we were walking, she started seeing black and white couples go by and decided to say, "I've been noticing more interracial couples lately." When we sat down to eat, she all but complained about how she was seeing too many black and white couples in commercials. I was just thinking, "You know I'm black right? Yeah this isn't going to work."
