It's nice to see that she would give up on her career to help support her future husband's career a hundred percent. And also I read somewhere her decision to retire early was also that she suffered with multiple injuries very early on in her career and that's why her body gave up on her so instead she chose to travel with him and be by his side. I only know Ms. Federer-Vavrinec from this video and from Wikipedia, but according to that she is apparently a very likeable (and pretty) person (like Mr. Federer), and at the age of 18 back then Roger Federer was just as little a big earner as his later wife, so that the gold digger status can probably be ruled out for both of them, but according to this video the two were simply totally in love with each other (and probably or hopefully still get along very well with each other today). It is of course also a very nice coincidence that the two got two twin daughters in 2009 and two twin sons in 2014.

So miss the Hopman Cup in Perth. It was killed off by Tennis Australia, and was a more leisurely and fun way for players to adjust to the dreadful heat of the Australian summer. One of the last matches had Serena Williams serving to Roger Federer, it was incredible. And the diamond-encrusted tennis ball trophies were so sweet.

One of the only reasons the competition these days is so fierce is because federer helped press the benchmark so high. So I can see your point, but the world would have eventually had a federer show up and change the game. Remember, the play back then was serve and volley, and it turned to more baseline play. Its evolved for the better, and without the nadals, djokovics, and federers, we wouldn't have the pressure to exceed. Hence why greatness isn't just about capturing titles, it is also about the man. At least that's my take on it. :)
