Can't get enough of Yuto. Great seeing him when he was younger. And now he has a gold medal in the Olympics!

Can someone explain me why he moves his head the whole time? Sorry for my ignorance, I guess it is something cultural. Whats the meaning of it?

In Asian culture, especially in Japan, people say "hai" (yes/ right/ ok) a lots. It's a way to acknowledge that they are listening and adding a node along the conversation is to show extra politeness or respect, especially when you talk to people older than you or to a large audience.
