The Days of Wine and Roses (Mancini / Mercer) -- for scat-singing
sing freely, experiment and have fun. if you'd like to focus on particular things as you sing, try these:
SING THE MELODY WITHOUT WORDS AND TRY THE FOLLOWING …
1. begin changing rhythms and notes. get used to having this freedom.
2. separate notes that were together and push notes together that were apart - distort or obliterate the rhythms of me melody.
3. leave some notes out.
4. repeat single notes or repeat groups of notes.
5. add new notes before or after some phrases.
6. sing a phrase from the melody, then something else. move between the melody and your own improv.
MOVING AWAY FROM THE MELODY, MORE INTO IMPROVISING ...
7. find a note to sing that sounds good with each chord. change ranges sometimes.
8. same thing, but find two or more notes for each chord.
9. sing a short rhythmic phrase. keep using the same rhythm, changing notes.
10. sing a short phrase and remember it. now sing only variations of this phrase, with different rhythms and intervals, even backwards or upside down. this is soloing with a motif.
11. solo again with a motif, but use other phrases in-between, like conversation.
12. sing with syncopation and changes of direction, like the Bebop musicians. make your phrases surprising.
13. alternate short and long phrases.
14. alternate phrases with silences.
15. scat freely. notice when you repeat something and when you sing something new.
16. use two motifs, alternating them at will. .

singe frei, experimentiere und habe Spaß. Wenn du üben möchtest, auf bestimmte Dinge beim Singen zu konzentrieren, versuche Folgendes:
SINGE DIE MELODIE OHNE WÖRTER UND PROBIERE FOLGENDES …
1. fange an, kleine Änderungen zu den Rhythmen und Tönen zu machen. Gewöhne dich daran, diese Freiheit zu haben.
2. trenne Töne, die zusammen waren und schiebe Töne zusammen, die getrennt waren… verwische die rhythmischen Gestalt der Melodie.
3. lasse einige Töne weg.
4. Wiederhole einzelne Töne oder Gruppen von Tönen.
5. Füge neue Töne vor oder nach manche Phrasen hin.
6. singe eine Phrase der Melodie, dann etwas anderes. bewege dich zwischen der Melodie und deiner eigenen Improvisation.
JETZT BEWEGE DICH WEG VON DER MELODIE, HIN ZUM IMPROVISIEREN ...
7. finde und singe einen Ton, die zu jedem Akkord gut klingt. wechsle manchmal den Gesangsregister.
8. singe zwei oder mehr Töne für jeden Akkord.
9. singe eine kurze rhythmische Phrase. benutze weiter denselben Rhythmus und wechsle die Töne.
10. singe eine kurze Phrase und merke es. Singe nun nur Variationen dieser Phrase, mit unterschiedlichen Tönen und Rhythmen, vielleicht auch rückwärts oder auf dem Kopf stehend. dies ist soloieren mit einem Motiv.
11. soloiere wieder mit einem Motiv, aber verwende zwischendurch andere Phrasen, wie eine Konversation.
12. singe mit Synkopen und Richtungswechseln, wie die Bebop Musiker. mache deine Phrasen überraschend.
13. wechsle kurze und lange Phrasen ab.
14. wechsle Phrasen mit Pausen ab.
15. jetzt scatsinge frei und merke, wann du etwas wiederholst und wann du etwas Neues singst.
16. Verwende zwei Motive und wechsle sie nach Belieben ab.
