I love that when they filmed this, they had a suitcase of CDs, and a handmade sign saying "pay what you want :) " and now, here we are 5 years later, their music has been in television shows, I've heard two of their songs on the radio, they've had at least one world tour that i know of, and one of their LPs even charted. Not bad for guys singing a song about cousin lovin' in front of the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto.

@@woo-sahbodyworks5859 It could be, it is all subjective art. I think the strongest, most obvious interpretation, is: 1) 'I tore up the restraining order' - The cousins Dad told her to stay away from the singer and got a court order to make him stay way. 2) Dont you know not to kiss and tell' - singer and cousin had been having a consensual affair till Daddy found out. 3) 'Pulled you out by your hair, people ask, I was never there, come on baby and take a ride with me, come on baby lets drive out to the sea' - he essentially kidnaps the girl and forces her into the car at which time he gets on the highway and accelerates till he loses control and fatally crashes and kills them both. Deep South's music is almost all death metal lyrics. Every song has some kind of death theme.
@Sethiol732 жыл бұрын
@@richardcheek2432 "3) 'Pulled you out by your hair, people ask, I was never there, come on baby and take a ride with me, come on baby lets drive out to the sea' - he essentially kidnaps the girl and forces her into the car at which time he gets on the highway and accelerates till he loses control and fatally crashes and kills them both." I saw this line very differently. The way I see it is more figuratively, he didnt kidnap as she was more than willing to go. The "by the hair" just means he didnt really give her time to think about it. He just did a grab and go. As for the last section, going faster, I dont see it as literal either. More, he is going faster in the relationship than she wants. As normal, the guy is thinking with his dick, and the girl is being more mature.
@richardcheek24322 жыл бұрын

I'm just amazed seeing a resurrection of thiss...folksy(?) southern(?) bluegrass(?) type of music. And it's coming out of places you wouldn't even expect like Canada or California for crying out loud haha. And it sounds genuine too. Very interesting. I hope this kind of music sticks around for awhile. I'm a Mexican dude from a California suburb and this shit gets me UP. I never understood why people don't like a particular song just because it's from a particular genre. If a song is good, it's fucking good. It doesn't matter if it's rock, jazz, soul, folk, rap, EDM or whatever; or if it's perceived to be white or black or purple people music.

I think the main reason anyone hates a specific genre is cause most of that genre that's popular is shitty music. The good stuff doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Aż wstyd, że pochodzisz z naszego pięknego kraju Cheers from Poland.

I was introduced to bluegrass through a mix of boredom and sheer luck on a transatlantic aeroplane flight - Robert Earl Keen's "Happy Prisoner: the bluegrass sessions" album happened to be recommended on the interactive entertainment display (it's fantastic - strongly recommend you check it out!) and have been hooked on the genre ever since. Whilst similar to the folk music we get in the UK (which is also great), the genre is distinct and there's something extremely likeable about bluegrass songs!
