They are from Saskatchewan, Canada. Try "Tiny wooden Box", "Black Lung", or ("Banjo Odyssey" if you think you're ready for weird!) My favorite is "Broken Cowboy". They are very talented guys from the Regina area.

Big fan of the Dead South. They exist in the world of Ven diagrams at the intersection of Blue Grass, Vintage Americana, and Heavy Metal. They are Nate Hilts, lead vocals and guitar on most songs, who used to do punk rock. Chris Pringle, the beard and high harmonies, who was a metal musician. Colton "Crawdaddy" Crawford on banjo, who has been less guitar in metal bands. And last but not least Danny Kenyon, who is a professional engineer by day and a classically trained musician, on cello. You must check out Tiny Wooden Box, Diamond Ring, Black Lung, and Broken Cowboy.

This song has been stuck in my head for years. You HAVE to do the dance when you find yourself humming it at random times, too. They did a cool cover of "You are My Sunshine". I love live bluegrass with mandolin (one of my favorite instruments).

That was great! For some reason I could see that being in a movie soundtrack. Ah record stores, the hours of fun spent in those. I especially feel sad for teenagers of today that will never get that experience. The excitement of finding an older album in the store by a band you'd just been introduced to and then taking it home to listen to it for the first time. Bliss. 💕

@@redheadedneighbor Oh yes! The joy of reading the liner notes cover to cover while listening to it! Gleaning every bit of information you can find. The internet is fantastic for that but the magic of finding out things has gone. That air of mystery about the bands was a tangible thing. They almost had a mythical status.

This probably Canada, where they’re from and Chiggers or Red Bugs like warmer climates. I was raised on a farm in the south and rarely got chiggers from overgrown farm fields, they seemed to prefer woodland underbrush. Thanks for covering these guys, they are definitely different.
