Oh No to be honest you can’t compare the tiger to the Sherman. But if you want to: Tiger was produced in very few numbers due to cost. Sherman was built in mind for mass production and easy repair and upgrades. The tiger was not. Tiger replacement parts were in very short supply by the time it was fielded, the Sherman had limitless access to parts salvaged from knocked out tanks and new from overseas. Tiger was less versatile, and was built as a primarily anti tank platform and intended to keep engagements at long range (around a km) and the Sherman had a multi purpose gun intended for fortifications and armor. Tiger was primarily sent to the east to fight Due to: the terrain (open with few cities), more thickly armored vehicles. Other German vehicles and towed guns did just fine in the west/Africa campaign. The tiger saw very little action in the territory the Sherman was built for. Logistics were not in favor of a fuel-hungry, over weight brick with an anti aircraft gun slapped inside. It’s not about who can do one specific role better, but rather who can do more tasks efficiently. Sherman > tiger in most regards other than facing down each others barrels, which was not the sherman’s purpose.

They also used a 12 cylinder, 38 gallon diesel engine not gasoline, capable of going 32 mph, designed by FIAT. The Russians called their tank "the coffin for four brothers"! As is the norm with this channel, it's filled to the brim with misconceptions and poor research. If we were to go by this video properly it should be renamed as "Why the Soviet T-34 tank was the best tank in the Soviet Military" As with all videos on amored vehicles, there IS no best tank in the Second World War because each of them is the best in their own nation's doctrine. For example, T-34s in the German Panzerwaffe wouldn't be the best tank as the tank differs from German tank doctrines. This goes back and forth too, Tiger Is and Panzer IVs wouldn't fit well with the American Armored Force as the American tank doctrine needs an all-around, jack-of-all-trades vehicle which was the M4 Sherman. The Japanese needed a lightweight armored vehicle for ease of transport in the Pacific and so they made the Ha-Go and Chi-Ha tanks, which in their eyes, are the best tank in the war and the Italians needed tanks that can fight in the mountains which is why they have CV 33s and M14/40s.

Your calculation (x*2) is incorrect. Take a folding ruler, measure up 45mm and draw two lines, take a protractor, turn your lines to 60° and measure up again...yep...the narration was also badly wrong....You could certainly use the correct formula to calculate the space, but ...hey....:)

@@mikeromney4712 umm sorry that's wrong the 60 is a misconception people have as it at 30° from the inside or 150° on the out side of the partactor wich does give the 45mm about 90mm. The Panthers is 35° on the inside or 145° on the out side it had 80mm giving it 140mm. The Sherman had two main types the first was the 57° on the inside or 123° on the out side. Or the later better one was 47° on the inside or 133° on the out side giving it at best 20mm on top of the 50mm plate so 70mm and later the 60mm frontal plate so 80mm about. If you have Any model's of the tank/tanks it makes it much easy to check then running down to the local milatry/WW2 museum if you have one there that is lol!

Are we talking about two parallel lines (35° and 145° =180°- let me suspect that), with a space of 45mm between, angeled at 60° (as a whole corpus, the angel would be 35° from inside and 145° from outside ofcours) and do we want to know the exact wide between the two lines (inside and outside) from a degree of 90° or the axis of rotation? 97,19mm is the answer. Or do we talk about a 80mm thick armorplate instead of 45mm? 159,94mm would be here the answer. I dont get it with the misconception....:)

@@mikeromney4712 90° is a flat surface yes so my point was the misconception is that the tank frunt plate was angled at 60°. The t34 had 45mm on its frunt plate and it was sloped at 30°. The Panther had 80mm on its frunt plate sloped at 35°. Sherman had most tanks with 50mm and later 60mm frontal plate sloped at first at 57° then later 47°

"Best" tank really isnt the word your looking for info. The Panzer IV was considered an amazing German tank since the tiger and panther were not produced in large amounts and even then the panther was one of the best German tanks, and the Sherman's were considered the most reliable tanks by their tanker crews for the Americans who even decided to use the Sherman over the Pershing

In my opinion the main reason the T34 was effective, at least the diesel variants, is because they required no electricity to start. They could be started from a pressurized air system, instead of a battery, which is incredibly useful in such cold climates when supplies are not always readily available.

Sloped armor wasn’t a soviet design. It was used in ww2 if you look closely at tanks like the FT-17 and even the British Landship tanks. It just wasn’t used as much compared to the Soviet Union with the T-34 and even BT tanks.

For me,I was thinking about the tiger H1 German heavy tank because it's heavily armoured and it has a powerful 88mm Cannon which can smash both Sherman and t-34 tanks, let's not forget that it was made by high-quality material and made by very experienced German tankmen but it's too expensive to manufacture and hard to be done so Of ourse it will be the T-34 because it's easy to manufacture and it's cheap,also it out-numbered the Germans in WWII. Although I'm a fan of the Germans but this tank needs respect. :)

The very first tanks designed in WW1 had sloped armour, as did many WW2 tanks to some degree. We've known angles deflect force forever, and it was routinely used in the middle ages when building shields, breastplates, etc. The reason tanks weren't all that sloped is because it takes up a lot of space in the tank, and you say later.
