The closed bar was my art piece. I wanted a commentary on social exclusion as it relates to restricted adult activities. Looks like I succeeded!

1:45 - that's an awesome piece, the "radio-active" one.

I live in London and we have some great galleries here and I visit them regularly. There's some great Art to be seen and there's other 'stuff' that is poorly conceived and executed: then there is some that is just absolute garbage. But because it's in the Tate gallery it is considered to be 'Art' with a capital 'A', yet if you saw it in the street you'd think it had fallen out of the dumpster and not give it a second look. You can always tell those pieces in the gallery, they are the ones where the viewer spends under 5 seconds looking at it or just walks by without stopping. I don't mind Art in the naive style as long as it is an arresting image that grabs my attention. There are thousands of outsider artists who's work is fabulous but will never get to see the inside of a gallery. Much modern art (and I am a fan by the way) is a case of 'The Emperor's New Clothes' and I'm glad that you are pointing a finger at it.

Thanks for your input. I too am astonished at how awful some of these works are that get into "first rate museums".

The bar should always be the first stop. Try the Cyanide Mojito. Saves trouble from all that walking and looking. Plus... it's trendy.

I recall leaving the 1982 Venice Biennale thinking Nazi art burning might not be a such a bad idea

I may not agree with a lot of art but to proclaim the Nazis did correct by burning degenerate art, which included German expressionist paintings, the entire Bauhaus movement as well. Artists who did not flee where subjected to routine visits by the Gestapo to make sure they were “not painting degenerate art!” Nothing those bastards did was good. As I have stated I don’t like all art but never would I suggest burning or destroying art in general.

That being said I wouldn’t rush into a burning building to save a Hirst piece.

I have a very simple formula for you. Don't see what you like? Then, move on & find something you do like. See, easy! Oh yeah, save the Nazi humor for your skinhead buddies

Are you serious about the vibrating soda bottles being great? I mean I appreciate basic innovation that is raw as well but if you're already pretty steeped in that kind of craft or those kinds of possibilities as an artist, then coming at it as a sculptor myself I can't really get behind it.

I humbly suggest you avoid "modern art". The Joe Coleman video was outstanding though.

He's got some kind of art show up there. For the love of gad, give the man some trimmers. His conceptual piece would be him trimming that sage brush.
