Dear Oxen Philosophy: Bravo!!! That was quite brilliant -- to pair Handel's aria "Va Tacito" with this film clip. It is a perfect match. Though I love the opera, and the film as well, I would never have thought of the connection. But it's obvious, once you see it. Good for you. It shows an impressive degree of cultural literacy. Molto astuto!! I'd love to buy a beer some day. Let me know if ever you find yourself in Washington, DC.

ah yikes I'm terrible at responding to comments on time! I could give you some erudite reply here, but honestly, I discovered the opera and the movie the same week, so I thought meshing them together would be fun (and I was newer than new at video editing, so more practice). You're right- the more I watch this video, the more I see that the two work well together. I've got some other videos on this channel that combine Baroque and Early music with modern movies and television in a similarly weird way. Since the aria is from a live recording, I had to also compensate for background noise like things dropping and audience laughter (hence the "all of you can kiss my Russian ass!" line). Very fun overall! (and I'm in DC frequently, so perhaps our paths will cross one day!). - Grey
