Hear the sound of a machine gun Hear it echo in the night Mortals firing rains the scene Scars the fields That once were green It's a stalemate at the front line Where the soldiers rest in mud Roads and houses All is gone There is no glory to be won Thousands of feet march to the beat It's an army on the march Long way from home Paying the price in young men's lives Thousands of feet march to the beat It's an army in despair Knee-deep in mud Stuck in the trench with no way out

I mean to be fair, German actually did really well under Hitler in the '30s ('40s are a different story) as a whole as he managed to massively restore the economy and provide lots of jobs to the people as well as made things like cars more affordable That being said, if you didn't fit his ideal image then life was rather tough and you'd probably be put in a prison camp
@eldorados_lost_searcher

@@lucasclark1669 Eh, things turned around, but in such an unsustainable way that Germany would have collapsed economically if they hadn't gone to war. Not to mention kicking women out of the workplace, lower per capita wages compared to before the Weimar collapse, and the fact that their domestic cars were affordable, but production never picked up enough for people to actually receive one after they purchased one.

It’s interesting, I go (well WENT now that he’s passed a few months back) to church with Tom Rice, one of the last living men who jumped on D-day. We live in a little village called Coronado that’s rather famous for producing some modern day warriors (it’s how I ended up living there ;) and he was always very open about his experiences in WW2 and was the man who taught me the benefit of being open about my own experiences with my numerous deployments over the last 20 years. He was as balanced and a top and just a great all around guy. Still did cross fit twice a week at 100 years old! Definitely motivational.

A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.
